So my son is almost 26 months old. He weighs 34 pounds and is 36 inches tall. The car seat that he's using only goes to 40 pounds-and all the others that I have looked at don't go any higher than 40 pounds. What do I do when he reaches 40 pounds? A booster seat? It just seems liks he's too young for one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I've checked a few sites and they all seem to say they should be in a carseat (not a booster) until the age of 4. However, this link shows that your state leaves it up to the parent. They require a carseat OR booster until the age of 8, but it's up to you when you move him to a booster. Here is a carseat that goes up to 50 lbs if you're not ready to move him to a booster (he does seem young for that). It's $99.

Hope that helps a little.

This is the one I have...it goes from 20 to 100 pounds. I also have a 26 month old (almost) and he fits in it quite nicely. He is 34 inches tall and 32 pounds.

Ditto.

The ones we are using only goes up to 40 lbs as well, so I will be changing soon.
