24 months are a little smaller than 2T. 24 months are made to accomodate a diaper. 2T pants are usually longer and bigger in the waist. 2T pants tend not to have the snaps legs. 2T are not found in the baby section of stores. You usually won't find a onesie in 2T where you would 24months.
Children's Place doesn't even have a 2T. They go straight to 3T[/b]
I was just about the <strike>say</strike> type the same thing.
Anyway, I googled it and basically found all the info that Erin posted. It's confusing though because some of the sites say that 2T is bigger in the waist and others say they're smaller in the waist because kids usually start to slim down and lose their baby belly around this age. 2T should definitely be longer though.
Also I read that you can think of it like the different lines of women's clothing -- juniors, misses, etc. They have different sizes within each of those lines, but some people can wear a size from each line. So the infant line goes up to 24 months and doesn't go higher than that... and the toddler line starts at 2T but doesn't have any sizes smaller than that. The sizes kind of overlap but they're not exactly the same. Ok, maybe that was just more confusing.
I know....it's very confusing to me too! Camden went straight from 24 months to 3T though...I'm not sure what happened there.
