Well I think I am going to bite the bullet and work on getting Jay in his big boy bed this weekend. Dh brought it up and I did talk to the lady that brings books. The way she explained things made more sense instead of my dh in his condesending tone. So I am going to tell dh we need to bolt furniture to the walls and get rid of the changing table. We have a bunk bed and I am going to ask dh to take the top so Jonathan can sleep in and get rid of the crib all together. I have been making excuses but no more. If the crib is not there then I can not be tempted. I think I am going to have dh get more baby gates so then if Jay does get out of bed he can not get out.
It only took a few nights for Cameron to adjust to his new found bedtime freedom. Stick to your guns. Bed time is bed time and every time he gets up put him back into his bed. Once he's used to that then he'll love being in a big boy bed. I know that Cameron really enjoys a little more space.
Thanks Nicole (MommaDucks) for my new & awesome siggy.
Gus did keep getting up out of it the first week, we didn't get angry, we didn't make a big deal at all, just firmly said bedtime and put him back in. Over and over. Even if he cried, e didn't react much, just a kiss on the cheek and tucked him in again. Eventually he got it, that there was no point in getting back out since he'd just be put back in. It was a bit of a hard week though, bedtime was really dragged out with all that putting him back in - and his room is upstairs
Hope the transition is easy for Jay and Jonathan!

When I moved Abby to her "bed", it was a twin mattress on the floor and she didn't act like she noticed the change at all...which was kind of surprising as she's always taken transitions hard. She's always loved having her own room and by being on the mattress on the floor, it meant easier access to her box of books. She would lay on the bed and look at books for hours.
Good luck! I hope Jay loves his big boy bed!!!
