Do you get your kids to help with any chores around the house?

Do they get a reward or pocket money for doing so?

I haven't started any rewards for chores with Danny yet, mostly because he just enjoys helping out and it seems to be its own reward for him! We are still working on the basic stuff though: putting shoes away in the right spot, dirty clothes in his hamper, dishes in the sink, etc. He used to help with laundry, but he enjoyed playing with the buttons on our washer and dryer a bit too much, so I had to stop that for now

Eric does have extra chores he can help with around the house - laundry, taking the trash out, loading/emptying the dishwasher, that sort of stuff. We have a chart, and for every "extra" task he does, he earns money.

I started at a very early age with all my kids. They were expected to put their dirty clothes away. Clean up their toys (with help when they were younger). And help with things they can do like wiping off the table after a meal, putting their dirty dishes in the sink, and things they enjoy doing like vacuuming. My kids enjoy helping out but I do make sure to give them an extra treat/reward if they go above and beyond.

We're very lax on chores and organization here. Tristan enjoys helping but honestly, if he helps me, I am not going to get done whatever I was trying to do (for example, the dishes.) I let him help me load/unload the washer and dryer but he tries to play with the doors - doesn't irritate me if that takes a long time, though. He is very good about throwing away his trash and putting cups in the sink, usually when asked (but we have SO many lazy ways to avoid doing that in a timely manner ourselves, such as a shelf above the couch for cups/cans). Social praise is all the reward he needs for that. He doesn't yet get the "exchange money for goods and services" thing other than those rides at the mall that take quarters, so money isn't a great motivator yet.
