I have to get to the grocery store today. DH is working so I have to take all 4 kids. It's Saturday so the stores will be packed. I am dreading this. I will just pick up what I need and get out of there but I already know it will be a disaster. I don't mind the stares anymore it's just trying to keep everyone contained, somewhat quiet and not destroying stuff...that is such hard work I break into a sweat. I will make it through, just dread it is all.
When I have to take all 3 of mine to the store with me I end up putting Alex into the basket of the shopping cart with his DS, Aiden sits in the front part of the shopping cart and I have Katie hang on to the cart and walk beside it. It works for us but it took a while to come up with a system and it took a while for Katie to learn to keep holding on but now that we have been doing it for a while it comes natural to her and she just automatically grabs onto the cart.
I know its different since your kiddos are younger but could be something that could help.
I hope it went ok. I can't imagine trying to get to the store and back with 4. Daniel is hard enough work on his own, especially if you have to queue at the checkout. I'm thinking of getting him a wrist strap so that when baby is here and I'm managing a pushchair, he can't physically get away from me and get himself into unsafe situations.
