As some of you know Jake is considered to be a gifted child, he is years ahead of his peers in school doing school work about 4-5 yrs ahead of where he should be. So he ain't really challenged in school because he has to do the work in class that everyone else is doing and only gets 1 hr a day doing the advanced work, which used to make him super frustrated. Then DH found out about a group called CTYI (Centre for Talented Youth Ireland). They basically take kids that fall in the top 5% academically in the country and do courses in the local university, he just finished his spring term yesterday and was studing Medicine and Detective Skills. Since he started this his frustration with school has eased a bit seeing as he is getting such a challenge on saturdays. Anyway parents are allowed to go into the classrooms for the last half hour to see what the kids did during the term. I saw a man standing at the back and he had a name badge on that looked very familiar. Turns out he is the head of CTYI in Ireland and just came down for the last day, i have never seen him there before. After it finished i approached him to ask a question about Jake and i said i would ask about Reese while i had him there. Reese is always asking about when he is going, but with the Oppositional Defiance Disorder i wasn't sure how he would sit the assesment exam. After having a chat with this man he told me to just get a letter from Reese's psychologist that stated he has Aspergers and ODD and that he is gifted and he will give him automatic entry as he said himself that Reese wouldn't deal well with the assesment. So we are getting onto the psychologist on monday and hopefully everything will be sorted for Reese to start in the summer term.
