We've been having a lot of meltdowns from Jamesen (my dude with autism) when getting dressed. There's been a lot of frustrations on all sides but I've finally figured it out!!

shirts have to be red, pants/shorts have to be jeans, underwear has to have red on it somewhere and he's very picky about his shoes... just let him pick which ones he wants for the day and don't try to take them off ever!

So glad I've got it figured out. no tears over clothes today!

Isn't it the best when you figure out what it is that's getting to them?!

That's great

it's so nice because when we would go to run errands or go to therapies and what not, getting dressed would set him off and then he'd be sobbing in the car and pissed the entire trip. Today we made it through Marcus' speech therapy and running a few errands with no problems at all! It was wonderful!

Its great when you find out what a meltdown trigger is. One of mine used to have meltdowns if his clothes had buttons on them, it took us months to figure it out.

I am very happy for you. Those meltdowns can ruin an entire day. Good job Momma!
