Hello,
My son just turned 2. He says maybe 50 words correct and other than that speaks a lot. But nothing is understandable, but he is definetly trying to speak.Only sentence he makes is "dad go"He totally understand everything we say.
He is also very active i am afraid he is hyperactive..So is this a delay or normal?

im no expert but 50 words sounds like a good milestone. My son is almost 19 months and does not say ONE word.

IMHO, I don't think your son sounds behind. We had our 3 y/o tested last March (he was 37 months old at the time; he has tubes put in his ears at 16 months) and he said MAYBE 15 words, and those weren't clear....mostly he grunted and pointed. The pathologist told as long as he knew 10 words, he was on track. And since he understood most everything (colors, shapes....that sort of thing) and could say 15 or so words, they wouldn't do anything. Now, he's almost 4 and slightly imporved, and his doctor has finally referred us out to a ear nose and throat specialiast to have his ears checked again & see where to go from there.
