We are back and Jay does have autism. The phycolgist was with him for about 30 mins and she brought us back and asked us questions. She he is defiantly on the spectrum and I asked how severe it is. She said its moderate so he is between mild and severe autism. I have to call and apply for medical assistance and they will pay for all the services he requries. So he will be getting around 30 hours a week plus the IU13 preschool.

I'm sorry he was diagnosed, but I am happy he will be getting the services he needs. I know how overwhelming it can be to get the diagnoses and have lots of info handed to you from everyone. We're here for support though. And now at least you finally know and you can help him.

Well I already replied in our PR but hey you can't offer too much support right? I know that even though you already pretty much knew this, it's hard to hear it confirmed. It's a lot to take in - all the expectations you may have had for him, and for the rest of your own life, it's all up in the air now, and it's scary. Just remember that for now - nothing has really changed. He is the same boy he was the day before the diagnosis, and the same boy he will be tomorrow - and go from there.
How is Sheiroky taking it?

I missed this post somehow so I'm replying late too.

I know it can be hard to get the dx...the confirmation makes it more real. Hopefully he'll respond well to the extra help and makes loads of progress.
