What does your preschool ask to send in for 'classroom supplies'?

Vanessa got her welcome letter the other day from her Pre-K teachers. With it was a 'necklace' she has to wear the first day of school that has her name on it along with a list of items she needs to bring to school.

The list includes 4 glue sticks and one bottle of white school glue.

Seems funny to me that my school - which I am very involved in - can't give the pre-k class glue sticks or glue?!?! But whatever...I'll probably bring it up with the rest of the PTO.

It's really not that big a deal since I did stock up when Walmart first put them out on sale. I think I paid $.33for a pack of 3 and bought like 4 packs.

Those were the only 'real' supply items. Other stuff on the list was change of clothes, full size back-pac and a healthy snack and drink.

Ben didn't have to bring anything to the one he attended. They even provided a new backpack every year (with the school logo).

Hmm.. interesting. Neither girls have ever needed supplies & where I teach the kids don't need them either besides a backpack.

Oh trust me...our PTO is all over this!!! The teachers are given a certain amount of $$ for supplies needed. What stinks is that they don't use it on proper supplies and so parents get stuck buying the other stuff.

Our school nurse totally rocks! Not only is she a great nurse and person...but she pretty much keeps our tiny school ticking!

She attends all of the PTO meetings and at our last meeting, she said that if you looked in the teacher's closets you'd seen so many un-used supplies it's not even funny. I believe her!

There is a school supply fee ($60) that we pay.
The things we bring in are a small pillow and blanket (and\or stuffed animal, small fitted sheet) for nap - we take this home on the weekends to wash, a family photo, signed forms, and a box of wipes for cleanups.

We are asked to supply 1 roll of paper towels, 1 box of Kleenex, and 2 glue sticks. As well as a change of clothing in a ziplock bag.

However, we are charged a flat $30 for a "supply" fee.

We don't have to bring in supplies. Just change of clothes and a backpack.

The teacher does have a "wishing well" with snack things for parents to help out with.
