Im hoping to get Mikaela in preschool soon. The one i want her in thats the most affordable has a waiting list...
But i really want her in just part time for now, and that would be tues & thur for $120/month. Everyone else is full time only and
they want $75/wk!!! i can not afford that! thats daycare price!!! ugh! and its a pain in the but b/c even though we cant
afford that, we make too much for headstart. So its like we get the shaft for being middle class....
Kaylee did 2 days a week (Tues. and Thurs.) from 9am to 11:30am and it cost us $124 a month. The second year (this past year) she was in the 4 year old's program which was 3 days a week (MWF) same time but on Friday she ate lunch with the class so they stayed until 12 noon. I believe it was $187 a month but we chose to pay the year upfront to save 10% which was like a full month's tuition almost.
Is the 2 day program that will cost $120 a full day or a partial day?

Its from 8:30am to 2:30pm. Im probably going to go get her on that waiting list soon, they
said if she doesnt get a spot this year, then new registration is in April and then its first come first serve....
Anyhow, DD is going this year (2nd year) for 2/days a week, from 9-11:30 and its' $75/month, or $56/month for those months which her days fall on any holidays. I guess this is a deal !!!
Izzie is going 2 days/week for 2-3 hours a day and total cost is $50(period)
A good place to try is the local high schools. Most offer a program whereas the children go in and the high school stdents are learning to work with kids. It offers everything the preschool does, but because its part of a high school class it is a fraction of the cost. My sister did it in high school and than sent all 5 of her kids and now my son will attend this year. In the years open they have gotten state accredited and now operate under state laws.

Kiely goes MWF and their hours are 6am-6pm. But the kids don't actually have to be there that early latest is 9:30am. I take her usually from about 8:20-8:30 until DH gets off work between 2-3 usually. and we pay $240/month She eats lunch [takes it and occasionally buys] and snacks and naps there as well.
Kaylee's is $120 a month. She goes from 9:00am - 12:00pm, Tues. and Thursday. I had the option of 3 days a week, but she is going to be in a 3 year old class and she still is 2. I'll see how she does and if she likes it then maybe increase it to 3 days.
The regular tuition would be around 800 a month but since I work there I get half off which makes it around 412/month... I don't have to pay the daycare portion because I am the teacher... If it were I were a regular mom and didn't work there the total cost would be around 1000*month.. yikes!
I would shop around as much as you can. I have found a very wide range in prices even some that are on a sliding scale based on your income. A lot of times church based preschools are very low in cost.
My daughter did not make it into the public school 4 year old program either. In Virginia, it is a full day and they ride the bus It is geared towards high risk kids and those are the first to be enrolled. They consider high risk to be either low income, single parent homes, english as a secondary language etc. If there is still room then other children are eligible based on how they score on the entrance test.
We have enrolled her in a private preschool that cost $140 a week. Up until now, we have been paying $100 a week for a babysitter. So for us, it is only $40 more then what we our use to. For what is offered, I feel this is a good price. It is full day. They teach a cirriculum very similar to the public schools. They provide her with breakfast, lunch and snack. She will have writting, math (counting blocks etc), social skills, story time, computer, play time, some spanish, nap time, arts n carfts. They will go on filed trips, have a school picture, progress reports, parent teacher conference. The teacher-student ratio is 1-10.
Thomas will be going 3 days (MWF 8am-11:15) and its $150 a month. If we wanted full weeks/days it would be $400. But its kinda nice that my MIL and my dad are going to help pay for school, esp in Nov & Dec(when I have to be on leave from work.)
