How on earth are you keeping your LO away from it? I'm not setting ours up til like December 23rd. This mama has no energy for redirect right now.
Also have you changed out your ornaments to the non glass ones?

DH had a 4ft artificial tree in storage and we went and got it out and put it in our kitchen (we have a large space) beyond the gates and where she can't get to it. There is no way I would be able to keep her away and glass ornaments were kept in the basement this year too. Usually I have a huge 7ft tree with extravagant ornaments but I think that will be kept away for the next couple of years. Our gifts are sitting in the kitchen too. Sometimes things just have to be adjusted for toddlers.

We're getting a tabletop tree, if we do a tree.

if we put up a tree, it will be the 2ft fake one I can put on a table. It helps that there are no older kids to want a tree. I'm thinking of making ornaments with Juliet and just using those to decorate, then taking them off to give as presents as we see people. I think we're going to try the cinnamon applesauce ornaments.

I put up a 6ft tree over the weekend and changed the glass ornaments to shatter proof ones! Good thing too, because between the cat and the baby the ornaments have fallen onto the tiles numerous time Zoe has occasionally been yanking at them, but because it's not in the main living area, it's not as obvious. She knows not to touch them, and watches me when she yanks at them. That's not worrying me so much, it's more the amount of pine needles that go flying when she pulls at the tree what drives me mad. The poor tree is going to be naked by Christmas.

When Maddie and Luke were really little, we had a tabletop tree that was set up. We had a real tree last year, and we're getting one this year (I already paid for it; we just have to pick it up). I will do what we did last year: put all the glass and breakables at the top, and all the ones that can't be hurt by baby at the bottom. No icicles yet.

Our tree this year is a 4' tree on a table. Not as awesome as a full size tree, but honestly my main issue was space.... I don't have the energy this year to shift furniture around and try to find a place for it.
I've never had glass ornaments of any sort. I have cats who climb the tree. (The other reason I didn't want to deal with the big tree!)

We are going to do a real tree, probably a 3-4ft one on a table... but ditto to the ornaments. Last year I didn't take out ANY of our tree decorations (well the lights) and we made paper chains, the cinnamon applesauce oranaments, we tried popcorn chains but that sucks and doesn't work worth a darn and take FOREVER! So I'm looking for a few more crafty, easily thrown away ideas to decorate this year.

I had never heard of the cinnamon applesauce ornaments until you posted about them at some point!

We are doing our regular artificial tree with no ornaments, just lights. We'll see how it goes.

I have no idea. Luckily I have a vast collection of decorations so I'm sure there will be some less dangerous ones in there.

We put up one of ours trees over the weekend and Mason is completely oblivious that it's even there! I have two trees and the one I keep in the family room is the handmade kids' ornaments and the cute, fun ornaments. If they are breakable, they are out of his reach, on the top of the tree. I was all prepared to have to put the "baby jail" around it, but no need for that at this point! Yay!
