We're only in week 3 of the (Australian) semester for university and have an assignment worth 50% of the mark due on Monday (Australian time). The first week of the semester I was sick, last week I got a bit sidetracked by Thanksgiving, and was trying to catch up on 2 subjects worth of work for 2 weeks, then I had to keep Zoe home from day care yesterday (on her one day care day a week) because she's sick. I have her in day care again on Monday, so asked the lecturer if I could submit the assignment by Monday evening US time (rather than Australian time) to give me the rest of the day Monday to finish the assignment.
He said no. Apparently if he gives one person an extension he has to give EVERYONE an extension. Every other lecturer I've had has approved extensions of less than a week for almost any reason. Surely giving someone until the due date in their own time zone isn't a lot to ask?! Everyone else gets Monday to finish their assignment, so by his rules shouldn't he give everyone until Monday to do the assignment?
The other thing that annoys me is that for the whole subject there's just 2 assignments that make up the entire assessment. Why on earth does he need to have one due 3 weeks after the start of semester!?
I'm so cranky right now.
