Juliet will be 18 months old tomorrow, and I think I can officially say that within the last week she has fully weaned. She's majorly cut back the past few months and started skipping days, but usually made up for it a bit by nursing more on the weekends. But she wasn't very interested last weekend and hasn't nursed at all this week. I offer morning and night, but she says no. It's definitely bittersweet. Each day it seems like she grows up so much and is so independent!

Everything about this age is bittersweet. If I think about it I might cry myself into a puddle. I am loving this age so much... even more than I imagined but with all these awesome moments comes that increased glimmer of independence.
That's really awesome that you worked and nursed for so long Erin

It is bittersweet. Mark will still nurse a little at night but even then, it's not long and he's skipped a night here & there so I'm sure he's about done too.

Awwwwww! That's great you made it this far Erin!! High-five!

We're almost weaned here too, but just because of my pregnancy and lack of milk. Kate still asks though, I'm trying to find other ways to distract her, give her a cup of milk or a toy or something. It's getting painful.

Amazing job keeping up for this long being a working mommy! It is bitter sweet that they are growing so fast now, makes me miss that tiny baby stage.

Keegan seems to have no end in sight-I keep thinking of that movie Grown Ups and I'm gonna be the Mom saying yes he's 48 months! (No I'm not knocking extended BF-I just never saw myself going past a year so this is all new for me)

Cari...you may be the only one who be willing to have a playdate with us at 48 months too then I feel the same way. I realized early on that I would let him lead the weaning, but I too see no end in site and have reflected on that movie many times lately. My sister's friend was telling her about having a tea party play date at her house when the other mom started nursing her 3 year old and she felt all " no boobs at the tea party!". I may be that mom.

Nicholas is no where near ready to wean. He is a freaking "nonny nack" monster. (nonny snack, thanks big brother for teaching him this word )

I am actually THAT mom who is still nursing her son that's going to be 48 months, literally, in 15 days....

I'm 75% sure she'd still be nursing if I was a SAHM... but I'm trying to not let all the working mommy guilt get to me too much

Life happens. In my case I KNOW Kate would still be nursing - probably a lot - had I not gotten pregnant. And yeah there's some guilt there, I'm taking something from her. But. It is what it is. I know working moms have guilt and that seems to just be part of the package, but yeah, try not to let it get to you. You did great, and she's just fine.

I'm sorry that either of you would have even a moment of guilt. I understand it since I feel guilty about everything, but seriously you are both so amazing with how you've managed with your lives!

In spite of my "best efforts" (aka not following through at all) Violet is still BF'ing every night and every middle-of-the-night. Ah, well. Soone enough I suppose.

You did great with Juliet! And she's clearly ready, so good for you for letting her take the lead!

Eliza's another who's showing no signs of weaning on her own. I had to cut back on the nursing because she wasn't eating any real food at all, so we're down to 3-4 times a day. I want to be done by the time she's 2 so that my body can have some time to bounce back before we start trying for #2. I have very reluctant hormones and BF has really done a number on me. Definitely bittersweet to be done, though!

Erin-don't feel guilty for a second! I work at the office 4 days a week and I'm gone from 7am-5:30pm, 1 day a week I have 3-4 hours at school then 1/2 day at home. I thought Keegan would have given up long ago with that schedule.

I think some kids are just ready to explore and do other things and others need that comfort a little longer. 18 mos for a working Mom is FANTASTIC! I'd say reward yourself that you're raising a confident independent young lady and she's just ready to do other things now.

aww Natalie, you shouldn't feel guilty either! Maybe it is taking something a bit sooner than you planned but you're also giving her something great-a buddy for life!
