Anyone else's LO's still putting just about EVERYTHING in their mouths? It seems like tasting everything is a requirement for Xander. It makes me worry about getting crafty things like the blog Elise posted. I know its just a matter of time until this stage is over, but still! I have these colorful jelly fridge magnets that Xander loves to play with AND taste. They're not being enough to swallow, but they are big enough to move to the back of his mouth and get stuck.

He's still cutting teeth one after another, so that may be part of it. I watch him like a hawk with anything small or anything remotely risky.

So is anyone else still eating everything in sight, and not just food?

I think in general, Juliet has been putting things in her mouth less and less... until this weekend, EVERYTHING was in her mouth. Her 2 bottom canine teeth finally broke through though.

I have started trying to encourage taking things out of her mouth, especially if we're out anywhere. She is also a thumb sucker, which is mainly only when she's tired or needs some comfort and I try to discourage that during the day too.

Yes.... and I think it's just for fun. She has big plastic coins for her cash register that she'll shove in her mouth. Gah. She does it more when she's tired and doesn't have a paci.... usually that's my cue to get one for her so she can wind down for bed. But yeah, she still tastes everything. I don't want to get her the paci except at home for sleep, but GAH get the dirty gross toys out of your mouth, kid!!

I feel you on the dirty gross things! I went to the bathroom today and usually he follows me and is all interested in what im doing on the toilet. (I'll sit down and...stuff.. and he'll look at me and tilt his head and go "pee-pee?" LOL!) Today he wasnt, when i got out and went looking for him he was rummaging through the TRASH. NASTY. He didn't have anything in his mouth then, but I wouldnt put it past him to find something "interesting" in there and go to town on it.

I try to keep a baby gate up but he has figured out HOW it works and I can only put the gate one way or it wont fit. I have a swinging door to the kitchen. He will either undo it, or just yank it down even when it's on the tightest it can do. I have super strong baby.

I think some of those swinging door gates actually can screw into the wall. Ours isn't screwed in, but our kid isn't superman! lol

I have a swinging door to the kitchen, like in those old houses? the baby gate can only fit where the latch is facing outside of the kitchen or else it doesnt line up right because of the door. Even now its lining up weird because the door frame is funky. Old frame house...

But yea, super strong baby, babysitter told me Xander picked up one of those little toddler chairs that goes with the little tables and literally THREW IT across the room. Not in anger, him and the two other toddlers she babysits comes running into the playroom and apparently he though it would be a good idea to pick up a chair and throw it and make it bounce off the wall, one handed..... *faint*

When Jackson was 2, I'd constantly find him going through the trash and I would actually catch him trying to EAT stuff outta there! YUCK. Finally, I gated up our entry to the adjoining dining room and put my trash can just over the gate, so that I could still throw stuff in there, but he couldn't reach it. Now I just have Mason who likes to throw anything he can find IN the trash can! I love it when people come over and say "Umm, where is your trash can??" I get the weirdest looks when I tell them it's in the dining room.

At this age, the only time my kids have ever put things in their mouths has been when they were popping teeth. Mason got his canines a couple months ago and he was chewing on everything in sight. His crib looks like a hungry beaver attacked it!
