Would you buy meat from a random van in a parking lot?
(Would you then glare at the person trying to park in the only empty parking spot in the lot that you are standing in while buying your meat, instead of scooting closer to creepy van? )

Around here there are a lot of independent butchers that sell meat. We get people coming to our door trying to sell meats that people ordered but didn't buy or weren't home for delivery. We live in beef and pork country though so you don't think much of it. Sometimes people will buy a cow and have it butchered and sell what they can't fit in their fridge. It sounds odd but meat is so expensive that it doesn't surprise me.

I suppose that makes sense. We've actually had a meat delivery struck (with the branding and stuff on the truck) come to our door when they were doing deliveries in the area to see if we'd want to order too.
But I don't work in the best of areas, definitely no farms nearby, so I found it a bit random here. (I was in a shopping center parking lot, near the Dollar Tree. Other stores were a grocery store, Marshalls and some smaller stores)

I don't know if I could buy from a strange van in a parking lot. My trust in people is not nearly as good as it used to be. I would be more inclined to buy from someone that advertised it on craigslist or another local classified listing. If it was just packaged in freezer bags I would turn and run though.

Hell no! But I barely eat meat and even buying it from the grocery store grosses me out. When I'm done with this pregnancy, I'm going completely vegetarian. I find it creepy that someone would be selling meat from a van in the dollar tree parking lot as well. Sellling drugs in the dollar store parking lot would seem more plausible!

Definitely not from an unmarked van, and I think it would creep me out if someone came to my door trying to sell meat too. If its from a reputable butcher then yes, but not from a random someone in a car park.

Ummm no. I would buy from a farm or from a small butcher shop, but not a random van. LOL

No, no, no! I buy meat from one butcher in town (okay I get the occasional frozen chicken breast from the freezer section), that's it. However there is a butcher shop about 50 miles away. If they came to town with a marked van, I'd buy from them. They have amazing meats but are just out in the middle of BFE.

When I was preggo with Elise 2 guys came to my neighborhood selling meat. I bought some. It was not tasty. Very fatty. No bueno! I won't be buying meat from a van again. In a parking lot or otherwise.

There is something about selling meat out of a van that totally grosses me out. And it certainly doesn't help that every meat selling van that I've seen has some ridiculously stupid, cheesy name that I can't take seriously! Around here I've seen the "Yummy Meats" van. Could they really not think of a more enticing name?? Barf.

I'm a little creeped out if any kind of salesman comes to my door, except the Schwanns man. You gotta respect the Schwann's man. I think if DH were there and it were a marked van, I might, but not from a parking lot. Usually at home the timing is bad anyway. We usually have no cash, don't like writing checks or using our debit cards with those kind of buys, or our freezer is full.

I literally laughed out loud at this qestion and some of the answers!!
My favorites are
" Hell No", "unmarked van" and Manderee's BTDT post.
Seriously! I don't eat met but if I did it would not be from said Creepy Van. On my 21st birthday two guys showed up to sell meat from a truck and we invited them to drink the Jaeger and party... we didn't buy the meat but it did end up on the BBQ.
