Rebecca posted this on FB and I had to share over here because I am royally steamed. These books were hugely important to me as a kid because of the artwork. It was horrifying, and I couldn't look away. Everything is spoon-fed and watered down these days, and it really grinds my gears. I'm so mad, I'm talking like a grandpa! DAGNABBIT.

I went and got used copies of the originals on amazon as soon as I read this before they get really expensive. I want them to creep my kid out like they did me. Huff.

I feel the same way. I was in love with these books. I can still remember every story. The artwork was insanely important to these books and I despise the disney-esque new artwork. Totally not the same feeling.

Oh man i remember getting freaked out by those pictures when i was a kid! It was awesome! It sucks they are watering everything down. Everyone needs a little adversity! It's part of LIFE. Geez.

I would like to know what happened to freedom of press? Really it's getting ridiculous of the books they keep pulling books off shelves. Like my all time favorite book is on the "ban" list.

Hearing just the title, I didn't have a clue what they were either. Once I saw the picture of the cover it kind of came back to me. No serious memories about them though.
