Some of these are a little old for our LOs, but there are some cool ideas!

Busy Bag Ideas :: Money Saving Mom®

I like the pom poms with the gladware-type container with a hole in the top. And the pool noodles stringing. I'd feel better about her stringing pool noodle slices than beads right now!

There's some great ideas there - especially for throwing into the diaper bag for those occasions that you're out and need something to distract them!

Thanks for sharing

I love the snowflake one!

We already do lots of things like this. Right now Eliza's favorite is putting coins into her spill-proof paint cups. Quarters are too big to fit in the hole, so it's a fun surprise for her when they won't go down. We have a jar with cotton balls and q-tips which she drops into an old yogurt container with a hole cut in the lid. We haven't tried pasta stringing yet; I keep forgetting to set that one up for her. Perhaps we'll try it after naptime today!

cotton balls! pasta! I never think of these things.

I was at Target at lunchtime so I got some little pom pom balls for $2. At least we can use them to learn colors too

She got really frustrated with the pasta and abandoned it after a couple minutes; perhaps we'll try it with something bigger like the rope and pool noodle rings. I can say that she is absolutely obsessed with the cotton balls, though.

Great ideas. I'm going to make some pompoms after I get off here tonight. I have old pool noodles which should be cut up too.

Thanks for sharing!

Love these ideas. Going to have to try some of them!

What kind of string did you use for the pasta? I don't really have anything good for her hands...

I had nothing heavyweight for string around the house, but we tried dental floss thinking it might be stiff enough. NOPE. Definitely need to get some rope or something sturdier and easier to grasp. Better yet: pipe cleaners! Or you could break down a wire hanger and use that (just make sure the kid doesn't go running off with a big ol' wire, obviously.)

Shoe laces work well. YOu can just put a little duct tape further down if you want to lengthen the hard bit. Pipecleaner does work well too though....I just don't have those laying around.
