Juliet's becoming a chunk, she was 50th percentile for height, but closer to 75th for weight (at 18 months). She's between 26.5-27lbs now. I think she's outweighing our neighbor's 3 year old now, and he's a few inches taller than her.

Vaughn is solid. He's not chubby or overweight, and people think he's like 3 already! And also because of his outrageous hair

But currently he fluctuates between 28-29lbs. He was actually down to 27lbs this past week. He's SUPER active, not hyper, just loves the outdoors and could play out there all day long so he's really leaned out...we joke he has a lil baby six pack!

He's about 33.5-34 inches tall.

Agreed. I'm confused. Maybe she got a nasty PM? I know there are some not so nice people who like to give her a hard time. IDK.

I read the question on my phone earlier.
G is pretty close to 50th percentile in height and weight...still a gigantic 97th percentile melon. Are they using the breast feeding charts for him? He never looks small in your photos. I wouldn't be fond of them using that term either...unless they were talking about me

Grant's very tall but his weight is on the low end of the spectrum, so now I worry about his eating. If he's teething he won't eat, and I freak out thinking he's going to lose weight. He eats constantly but he's still in 18 month pants and we have to use a belt to keep them on. The only clothes that consistently fit him come from Carters.

I don't see the original post, and I'm a bit confused. If the post is about how big, Ellie is about 21 pounds and 30 inches tall. She's only in the 12th percentile for height and weight, but she does eat well most of the time. We do get comments about how little she is occasionally, but luckily no ignorant comments. Adults come in all shapes and sizes so I don't know why doctors are so terribly hung up on size charts, etc. Seems like babies should be considered healthy and normal at a variety of weights and heights.

^^Well put! Eliza is a peanut but she's growing just fine. Her doc was worried for a while and we still hear about it whenever she has a well check, but she's growing on her own curve and her height and head size are both 50%. She was still under 20lbs. at her 18 month.

Kate is still small but she's putting on weight now, getting closer to 50th percentile. So I can't really call her a peanut anymore, lol. I never really worried about her size though, because she always ate pretty good and was gaining. Some kids are 90th percentile, some are 10.

Seems you can't win, got a crying phone call from a friend IRL this evening because her feelings are hurt that all anyone says about her son is how ginormous he is. He's 10 months and he weighs 29lbs and is 35 inches tall. So her 10 month old is bigger than my 20 month old but both are happy and healthy. If that's not a big suck it to growth charts, I don't know what is!

Ashton was 26lbs at 10 months old and now at 20 months old he is only 30lbs, we were always on the opposite end of worrying about weight, Im sure you all remember. All kids grow differently.

I agree! Both peds we've gone to (we switched) have both put more emphasis on the actual curve of the growth charts, vs looking strictly at weight or height. I've got Jackson who's a skinny little guy and I KNOW Mason won't have that problem! Mason has always been a chunk, although he has MAJORLY slowed down in the last year with his hospitalization, surgeries and more ear infections than I can count. His "curve" looks more like a roller coaster, but our ped isn't concerned since you can see that it's clearly related to his health issues. He'll catch back up to chunk status eventually! And there is nothin wrong with a little chunk! Avery has the exact same body shape as me (pear shape). I tell her to just own it and "shake what your mama gave ya!"

So true. I really don't get why people get so hung up on a bigger baby. As long as they are healthy and they aren't drinking pop and eating Pop Tarts and cookies for breakfast, it's perfectly fine! Personally, I think there is nothing cuter than a chunky, chubby baby!! Just like grown adults range in size and shape, so do babies. Like I said above, Avery has always had the same shape as me. And I was the same way as a kid, with the same shape as my mom. And Jackson has the exact same shape as DH. DH was awkwardly skinny as a kid and he has the same shape as his dad. Genes are genes and there just isn't anything you can do about that!

there wouldn't be such thing as 50th percentile, if there weren't also a 10th and 90th.

^^ that's right!

My niece is a perfect example of the other end of the normal range. She. Is. Huge. Like, nearly 40 lbs. And she's 17 months. She's gloriously healthy and really active. It's just funny seeing these two cousins standing next to each other, complete polar opposites.

So true!! Me and my brother were opposites as babies... I was tiny and skinny, he was chunky chunky roly. And we were both entirely breastfed, raised in the same home, etc. And funny enough we both ended up with the same body type and look a LOT alike (though I'm the one whose weight fluctuates, he's the one who can't put on a pound to save his life). Kids just grow differently and that's all there is to it.

Violet hangs out at 100% for height, 65% for weight (which makes her look skinny because she is so tall) and 40-50% in head size.

She is NOT a chunker like I was, both EBF. My sisters children are giants. Tall and huge. Six year old wears size eight... 2.5 year old wears 4T. 4T!!! ! So, although V is average-ish, she is the wee one in the family
