My DD Angelica will be 1 on the 27th...and lately she has been lifting her dress and squatting when she poops then crying and clawing at her diaper until I change her. I know that these are signs of being ready to potty train but so early? Could it really be or is it just wishful thinking?

Wishful thinking. One is TOO young to start PTing. You run the risk of her regressing around the 2-3 year old mark. I'd wait to start introducing her until she is about 18 months, then really go at it sometime between 2-3 years old. That's the peak time to really Potty Train - 2-3 years old.
Now, I'm not saying that she isn't trainable, but most research out there says that early training does lead to regression later on.
Kelly, may be right. However my boyfriends sister was completely trained by a 12 months old and she never regressed, so I guess it might depend on the child. I'm not saying that she is trainable now, but it could happen.
I live in China and here they potty train all the babies by 12-18 months. Obviously, they still need lots of help and you need to be quick, but pay attention and they can wait until you get them to the right place and get their clothes out of the way. Doesn't seem like it's done any harm for every Chinese kid out there. I'd for sure go for it if she's showing signs.
