hi there, i have been letting my 2 year old get used to her potty for ages now. and she loves sitting on it. once we even got a poop! but that was once.
anyway, we often let her run without her diaper on. and she will willingly sit on her potty. we remind her every 15 mins to sit on her potty.
but after a few times she gets bored with the idea. refuses and a few mins later has an accident. which we promptly clean up without making a fuss.
anybody else have a toddler who gets bored with the potty?
I would try to make a game of it- Act really, really excited, run over there, and make a big deal about her sitting on it.
Also, if she goes pee maybe let it be longer than 15 minutes before she sits on it again- you don't want to have her dread the potty!
I agree, 15 minutes may be too often for her. I would get sick of that whole rigamarole too. Do you have any kind of idea how long she can go between peeing? We never used a timer for our son, we just had him naked at home, when he started peeing he would get put on the potty and within a bit he got the idea. Same with pooping. Also, this way my husband and I were really able to get an idea of his potty cues and a great sense for when we needed to start pushing him toward the potty if he wasn't already doing it on his own. He was a bit younger though so I don't know how this method works with older toddlers.
