How will you or do you avoid power struggles while potty training?

We did it by starting at an age when he was looking for more independence but still loves to try to please us too. We also tried our best to keep it upbeat and enjoyable for him.

In our house, it was a rule.

After some sage advice I may have gotten from JM....it became "Sam it's time to go potty" NOT "Sam do you have to go potty."

We still did the rewards and praise, but we took the power back by just telling him it was time and he had to try. More often than not he did actually go.

by not being as pushy about it as I was with My daughter....I know it will happen on his own time....sooo I feel no need to push him before he's 100% ready....we'll go at his pace....

I like andreas suggestion of "It's time to go" instead of asking too.....when we get to the point of reminders....right now we are just to the point that more often than not he just wants to sit on the potty cus he thinks it's fun
