Does anyone else's child have a fear of the potty?

My DD1 just turned 2 9/22 she knows when she goes potty because she asks for a new diaper right after. But she WILL NOT sit on the potty even closed! She is deathly afraid of the thing! I am not even sure what to do! I want to potty train because she is ready but can't get her to go by the potty!

With all the love in the world, if she is afraid to sit on the regular potty, she is NOT ready to PT. Have you considered getting a potty chair that you can keep in the living room? Even just to have out for her to sit on while coloring or watching tv?

My older son hated the little seats, and was okay on the rings that go on the regular toilet. My younger son? HATED the rings and has been on the regular toilet since his 2nd birthday.

The bigger issue you make of it, the more she will dig her heels in. Just because she's two and recognizes the urge, doesn't mean she's 100% ready. The bathroom shouldn't be a scary place.
