I have heard from others that they are all totally different.
I have a friend who just had her 4th child, the 3rd is 3 1/2 and she's not potty trained, her other two are teens and they were potty trained well before this 3rd one, so she says it is just different.
I know one thing will be easier when my son hits the age, I know how to start, which was what I didn't know how to do with my daughter!
From our experience, the 2nd boy may well be easier than the first as he'll have his older brother as mentor. When the time comes ask James to help out and show his little brother the basics. It will take as long as it takes and just like you were with James, be patient and it will all work out.
Good luck when you get started.
Edit: Wow another old post that's been resurrected. Still, hopefully, you got it all sorted out.
