I try to read all of the ones coming out so I know which ones I'd suggest to clients. Right now I love The Official Lamaze Guide and My Best Birth.

For first time moms I would read

My Best Birth, it's pretty comprehensive.

Your Pregnancy and Birth by ACOG, which is best for a standard hospital birth.

The Mayo Clinics Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy is good for a hosptial birth as well, it's pretty big though.

Better Birth is really great for exploring all options.

Our Bodies Our Selves Pregnancy and Birth is a really good one, pretty comprehensive

Now if you want to gear more towards natural or unmedicated childbirth I would go with

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth

The Official Lamaze Guide

Birthing from Within, especially if you have doubts or fears about labor and birth

The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer

Now you don't have to read all of those books but I read atleast 2 books just to get a feel of things. Every book has something different, but most of the same information.

Wow that's quite the list lol!!! Before my miscarriage my boyfriend and I were looking at books, but were unsure witch is better. We're going to give it an actual natural go (no birthcontrol this time) so it'll be good to have an educated idea of what's what Thanks!!!

I read and reference What to expect when expecting (bf read it also).

I read Ina May's guide to childbirth.

I am leafing through (Bf is supposed to be reading it) The Birth Partner.
