Morning sickness... sometimes it should be called all day sickness! One of the areas we see the most frequently asked questions we see here on the Pregnancy Questions board is anything asking about morning sickness. So here are our answers and recommendations. What works to stop morning sickness?
- Preggie Pops
- Ginger candies
- Ginger snaps
- Eating some bread before you get out of bed
- Small meals frequently
- B-Natal lozenges and lollipops
- Sea bands
- Sometimes nothing
When to see/call your doctor about morning sickness?
- If you are becoming dehydrated
- Blood in vomit
- Unable to keep food and water down at all
- If you're worried about it

I've had morning sickness for a full ten weeks. It is worst an night. I looked up a bunch of remedies and thought I would pay it forward. Here is what sometimes works for me:
Don't get too hot, it makes everything worse
Take warm, not hot, showers
Try cutting out milk
No hot beverages
Eat ridiculously tiny meals all day long (ten is not a crazy number)
Stay hydrated, if water is gross add fruit (citrus, strawberries, cucumber)
Don't drink anything with your meal, it fills you up
Try to sneak in protein (hard boiled egg, nuts)
A shake will often 'stay down' and you can add protein
Freeze fruit and eat it (grapes are great frozen, bananas too)
Eat a few salty potato chips before a meal
Sip ginger "beer" (there is no alcohol) after a meal
Pack around strongly flavored gum, mints or candies (mints, ginger, etc)
Try rice cakes if crackers get boring
Get fresh air, even if it is just sitting outside or by a window
Avoid the meat isle at the market
Things to talk to your doctor about trying:
Probiotics, like Culturelle
An enzyme pill, to help your stomach digest food
Combination of low-dose Unisom and B6
Prenatal vitamins in liquid form (its a squishy pill, like vitamin E)
I'll also say that feeling crappy during pregnancy can be depressing. It can really limit your social interaction, try your patience and put a stop to typical activities like making dinner or exercise. Be especially nice to yourself. And ask for help. Your husband, parents or dear friends would happily pitch in.
