Hey Guys,

I had the flu jab when I was around 20 weeks pregnant and now the last few days I have come down with the flu I thought the whole point in having the flu jab was to be protected from it?

Can it be serious for my unborn baby?

I am 25 weeks pregnant and have had some sort of stomach flu three times since I was 6 weeks pregnant. I didn't get the flu shot bc it doesn't protect against all strains. I have heard of people getting the flu after the shot but, the baby will get what nutrients he/she needs. I actually had to get an IV bc I was so dehydrated and the on call dr said the flu won't hurt the baby. Just make sure you are hydrated.

It may not actually be the flu that you have. It could be another virus or unrelated bug...or could be a strain that the shot did not have in it.

The worry with the flu is usually in regards to the mother. Doctors want to make sure that the mother does not become dehydrated if they are vomiting/have diarrhea or that they do not suffer severe respiratory symptoms.

Just make sure that if you start to get really ill that you see a doctor ASAP!

Hope you feel better soon!
