I will be 10 weeks tomorrow (yaye!) but I have a question about weight gain. Everything I've read has said you shouldn't gain more than 3-5 pounds during the first trimester. Pre-pregnancy, I am 5'0" and I weighed 98 pounds. However, I weighed myself the other day and I was surprised to see 106! I only eat healthy foods- oatmeal with a banana every morning, and only snacking on fresh fruits and veggies with grilled chicken salads for lunch/dinner. Occasionally I will allow myself some junk food (bag of chips or chicken tenders with fries) but not too often. I'm wondering if this weight gain seems normal? I'm worried I'm doing something wrong!

As long as you are eating healthy, there is no need to worry (an allowing your self some less than healthy snacks occasionally is fine too!)

Some women gain weight faster, some retain fluid more (so you're not really gaining fat) and some gain slower.

You're not doing anything wrong at all It sounds like you're being very healthy and on a fantastic track! It can be hard to eat super healthy when you're pregnant..especially with the cravings and morning sickness!

Congrats on your pregnancy!

Oh, good! I have been drinking an average of 6-8 20 oz bottles of water a day. I'm always thirsty! And it has to be iced water in order to quench my thirst. I've had a few people tell me I'm eating too much or that I've gained too much weight already. Especially in my face! So perhaps I am just retaining a lot of fluid right now- my first doctor's appointment is in a week so hopefully he will let me know if I am on the right track!

It is hard to eat healthy! I crave nachos constantly!

Blah! People actually told you you're eating too much? All you need extra is 400 calories...and if you're eating healthy, I doubt you're eating too much.

It's ok to give in to cravings sometimes.. whole grain nachos with real cheese and lots of veggies aren't too bad

Ah I gained 15 pounds my first trimester and that ended up being the only weight I gained until 38 weeks. Don't worry about it as long as you're eating mostly healthy and staying hydrated.

I agree, as long as you're eating healthy you shouldn't worry. Your body if building up for baby. You might gain more in the beginning and level out ore in the middle. I would just keep eating a healthy diet and keep yourself active.
