Hi, I am new here and I apologize as this might be quite long but I have just left the emergency room feeling very confused. I know I will not get any ultimate answers until Monday but I want to know if anyone has gone through anything similar.
I found out I was pregnant 3 nights ago, my last period was in the first week of November. Last night I had some light pink then dark brown bleeding but it stopped almost immediately. Today I had heavy more consistent bleeding that's bright red. I went to the ER and I got a full blood test, an HCG test, and a pelvic examination.
While the Dr. Was performing the pelvic exam he said there appeared to be no disruption to the womb which sounded like it was a surprising find. He said my HCG level was 177 and that it should be 800. I have also read though not to stress too much over the levels. I have to get rechecked on Monday to see if the levels went up or down and that will determine if it's a miscarriage. I was unable to have an ultrasound done because we were in the midst of a snowstorm and no one was able to come in to perform one.
I guess I am just confused and getting mixed information. I'm not sure if I should maintain any hope or just accept that it is probably a miscarriage. I was wondering if anyone had similar experiences.
Here are the main points again:
- experiencing somewhat heavy bleeding that's bright red although there has been no tissue or clots involved so far.
- I am in no pain whatsoever. No cramps no anything.
- dr said womb seemed undisturbed.
- HCG levels only at 177 should be at 800 apparently.
Also in case it matters I have only been pregnant once before and it was a very successful one in which I took twins to full term with no complications whatsoever.
Anyone have anything? I think waiting until Monday will be torture.
