Let's make a checklist for packing our hospital/birth center/labor & delivery bags! Here's a starter - what else can you think of to add?

Paperwork
-----------
- Copy of insurance cards and other medical paperwork
- A few copies of your birth plan, if you have one
- A list of the names/numbers of people you plan on calling (yes, even if they already in your cell phone, in case you forget your charger!)
- Any pre-registration paperwork
- Map and directions to hospital (and, if you live in a rural area or big city, the next nearest hospital too)

For Mom
---------
- Extra eyeglasses or contacts (or both!)
- Hair ties, bobby pins or scrunchies
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Favorite shower supplies (body wash, shampoo, conditioner, etc)
- Favorite hair supplies (I go NOWHERE without gel & mousse! )
- Cell phone and charger (good idea to bring a pre-paid phone card, just in case too)
- Camera and batteries (good idea to throw in one disposable too, just in case!)
- Video camera, charger, tapes or DVDs
- Bathrobe and slippers
- Nightgown, extra large t-shirt, comfy loose night clothes
- Going home outfit
- Socks!
- Pillow(s)
- Extra blanket
- Change for vending machine
- Cards, DVD player, Laptop, Ipod, or Mp3. Things that will keep you entertained.

For DH/SO/Birth Partner
------------------------
- Travel container of aspirin or Tylenol (it's super expensive if they get it from the hospital)
- Toothbrush
- Small bag of loose change or a roll of quarters
- Non-perishable snacks
- Change of clothes
- Extra blanket(s)

For Baby
---------
- Going home outfit (2)
- Accessories (socks, hairband, etc)
- Blankets (2)
- Carseat installed

in additon to the snacks, dollar bills or quarters for the snack machines, just in case.

dont' forget to install carseat in the car, or make sure to bring that with as well. I brought my own pillow each time, but I'm a pillow snob

extra blanket for dh/so if he is going to stay, they'll have some but they aren't always the warmest.

Yes - carseat installed is a big one! DH tried to do it before we were ready to leave the hospital last time and he was so frustrated Our local hospital has labor, delivery & postpartum rooms combined, and when they move the delivery stuff out of the way the alcove that is left is the perfect size for an air mattress for dad!

Has a mom who started labour on a sunday night and didn't have the bundle until Wednesday morning, trust me when I say you get bored very fast.

If you have other children that you are going to have there, then entertainment for them as well.
