Each challenge is 6-weeks long. You can start it whenever you want, and whatever part of your pregnancy. There is a weekly challenge check-in thread where you can post which challenge you are doing, how far along you are in it and how you are progressing.
Mama Makeover Challenge
There are men (and women) all over the world who will tell you that women are the most beautiful when they are pregnant. Usually this happens on days when you feel the worst. But we have a lot to celebrate when we are pregnant! It's just too bad we don't always feel pretty. This Half Trimester Challenge is to perk up the diva -- I mean the hot mama in YOU!
Week 1 - Stretching Feels So Good
If you've been having regular pregnancy pains and complaints, performing some simple pregnancy stretches just might help to make you feel like a new woman! Make sure you check with your doctor or midwife before starting any new stretches. Do pregnancy stretches twice a day.
Week 2 - Pamper Yourself
Now that you are relaxed from your stretching all week, it's time to add something new to the challenge. Keep doing the stretching from week 1 and add this. Find something you can do each day to pamper yourself. Whether it's an hour long soak in the tub or five minutes of deep breathing, do something each day to make you feel relaxed and luxurious.
Week 3 - Journaling
This week you should be doing the activities from weeks 1 & 2, and adding to them some time spent journaling. Whether your journal is on paper or on JM, keep an account of how you feel, your hopes and expectations during your pregnancy, what you are looking forward to doing with your child, etc.
Week 4 - Walk it Out
Provided that your doctor or midwife approves, now is a great time to add some walking into your routine - it will help you look AND feel better. Remember to keep doing the activities from the previous week, and just add this one in. Try to walk at an easy or moderate pace for 30 minutes. Whether its walking to the park or walking at home (I like to use Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home DVDs), try to get your 30 minutes in. Don't worry about your distance, just get that body moving!
Week 5 - Plan a date with your SO/DH
Not everyone will be able to do this one, and those who don't have an SO/DH at home or close, plan a night out by yourself or with your friends. It doesn't have to be elaborate, just something for you to enjoy. Remember to keep doing the activities from the previous week! This week we're planning a date with our SO/DH. Make it something special - not necessarily fancy or expensive, just something special for the two of you. Maybe a repeat of your first date? A night out at a local B&B?
Week 6 - Evaluate
We've done quite a bit in the past five weeks! Now is the time to look back and think about how it's working in your life - do you want to keep doing these activities? Spread them out to less than daily or weekly? Try to fit what you learned during this challenge into your daily life. And most of all, just enjoy!
Post a thread telling us what you are keeping up and what you are changing. Let us know what you thought about the Mama Makeover Challenge!
