Tater Crisp Chicken Legs for tonight... A simple dish, but we are doing our grocery shopping tonight as well, so I don't want anything too complicated.
Speaking of which, I need to put together our dinner menu for this week! (It really does save you tons of money)

I love cooking

I still haven't decided yet Rather than plan meals per the day of the week, I plan a week (or more) of meals and then pick which one goes with which day. I'm thinking pizza or spaghetti today. Both have rising times, so if it's nice when I get home from work, I may switch to a meal that takes less time to prepare if Dalton wants to play outside first. Although making either pizza crust or breadsticks won't take too terribly long and he does love to help me cook, so he might be willing to exchange 15 minutes of outside play for cooking.

Probably spaghetti, unless DH feels like assembling spring rolls. We really need to use up the tofu but I'm feeling so lazy today!

I should really try planning out meals for the week. Usually DH and I go to the grocery store and are like "Okay so... what do we want to eat this week?" Not the best plan x)

You really should! It is great... And like Joanna said, it doesn't have to be that meal of the day, but have 7 meals on a list with ingredients you need and go buy them. Me and DH average between $50-$60/weekly. But these are nice, home made meals. (I am talking slow cookers, cassaroles, italian, like actual good meals. This is sort of new for us since we usually ate brats and pizza every night for the longest time LOL, and we would always go out to eat)
I mean $240 seems like a lot to spend on food in a month, but DH always has left overs for lunch the next day instead of gonig out with his work buddies and eating applebees everyday! (Part of that $240 is for breakfast/lunch materials too!)

Meal planning definitely helps us! We spent $60 for 2 weeks of groceries this time. Of course, when meat is on sale we spend more because we stock up. I also do a lot of baking (yes, even in the summer!), so we don't pay much for breads or desserts. I garden and can too, so we have frozen and canned fruits & veggies year round.

Yesterday we had spaghetti with whole wheat breadsticks, applesauce and peas. I stretch canned spaghetti sauce (didn't have enough tomatoes last year ) by adding tomato paste, tomato sauce and my own Italian seasoning mix so that it will cover a pound or more of pasta. Then DH has a meal ready when he gets home from work (he works second shift) and we all have lunch for the next day - I take mine to work, but Dalton and Tim eat at home.

Umm we ended up having cereal for dinner last night

Last night I decided to plan for the rest of this week because I decided cereal for dinner is getting into the realm of a little too lazy And I'm thinking about what to make next week too. It's kind of fun actually, and it'll be nice to go shopping with a list that doesn't have "Stuff for dinner" as one of the items

Yeah, that's one of those things that happens before you have kids... I miss those days sometimes!

Oh but its so true! I almost feel like a professional grocery shopper when I walk around with the cart and list grabbing actual ingredients. Nate really likes it too... I think in his eyes I am startting to look like a housewife like his mother. Which is fine with me. I can't be a SAHM and not even make a decent dinner!

We're having brinner, one of Dalton's all time favorite meals. Ok, his only all time favorite meal. Pancakes! He prefers French Toast, which he calls Mommy Toast and will only eat if I make it, but I talked him into pancakes.
