I think you can have one too early but not too late (but its more of a meet the baby party at some point). It depends on what you like and your style of life.

I think before the halfway point, 20 weeks, would be too early, whether you're finding out the gender or not. And more than a month or two after the baby is born seems a little late.

I guess I should clarify, I'm asking about a pre-baby shower.

My mom wants to throw one before the baby is here, but we have two issues with that - #1 - we are Team Green, so if the baby is a girl we will need a lot more than if the baby is boy. We don't really need any neutral stuff or the basics for every baby. And #2 - We are almost out of time... It feels too late to have a baby shower to me, and I'm thinking a meet the baby party would be better.

I would probably do a meet the baby party if you don't need anything right away. That is more fun for people in some ways especially with the second. Some people get funny about having a shower with each child. My sister is throwing one for me I will be 31 weeks. Its been 5 years since we had a baby and we don't have anything. Or at least we didn't LOL.

I am having mine at a point I am sure people would say is to early, I'll be 25 weeks, But I have to travel and my insurance won't cover an opps I'm in labor and away from home, therefor I cannot travel after 30 weeks and that was the only week that really worked for both myself and my mom. I would have loved to have it around 33 weeks or so.

If I were you though I would at this point do a meet the baby or try to get invites out this week for a 37 week shower

I would much rather do a meet the baby party, in fact that's what I had planned, but my mom says that won't work for her.

Ooh, that does seem late for a shower that hasn't even been planned yet :/ Why won't a meet the baby party work? It'll be just like a shower, only the baby won't be in your belly anymore xD

I don't depend on showers for my basic baby supplies, so I'm happy if I get one at any stage of the game, I'd even take one the day before my c/s

I think before 28/30 weeks is too early, it's still so iffy at that point (IMHO) but never too late, well unless the kid is like 12 months old...

Why won't a meet the baby party work? It seems that would fit in your schedule much better. Also since it's not your first child, it's a bit more appropriate.
