The birth story of Jackson Alexander
On Tuesday April 27th I woke up to some strong cramping that quickly turned into contractions. They were pretty far apart, 30-45 minutes, so I didn't think anything of it. As I made breakfast I quickly realized how nauseated I felt, and barely got down two pieces of toast. As the morning turned into the afternoon, my contractions became more and more frequent and I felt just as sick to my stomach as I did in the morning.
Around noon my contractions became 9 minutes apart and I also starting getting a throbbing feeling in my sides and back, I could barely walk. I called my MIL to come over, I had some errands to do that evening and I wanted her help with it since I was feeling so sick. By 2:00pm the contractions were strong and steady, now at 8 minutes apart. Suddenly I felt so cold, had goose bumps and starting shaking as my stomach turned. I barely made it to the bathroom where I ended up getting sick three times in a row.
My MIL showed up, made me a smoothie and made me rest on the couch. Around 5:00 pm my contractions started coming 7 minutes apart and the throbbing in my sides and back were killing me. At this point I started thinking something wasn't right and that he might be coming sooner than I thought. I just didn't feel right. I went to the bathroom then made my way back to the couch, covering myself with two blankets.
Around 5:30pm DH got home and started putting the finishing touches on our hospital bags, just in case. At 5:50ish I got up and went to go get more water- I took maybe 3 or 4 steps across the room when I felt this big gush and immediately felt liquid running down my legs. Me and my MIL started screaming for DH and he confirmed what I already knew; my water had broke.
I was so thankful I had called MIL because she stayed with Maddison as Conner and I made our way to the hospital. We were completely shocked this was happening, we figured it would be another few days earliest. By the time we got there, close to 6:45pm, my contractions were every 4 minutes and becoming very painful. We went to L&D, checked in and settled in our room. They checked how far dilated I was and I was at 4 cm.
At 8:00pm I was 5 cm dilated and the contractions were so painful. I decided to get an epi and once it was in, I felt amazing again. I dilated further and further as the night went on- At 11:00pm I was up to 9cm and at midnight I was fully dilated at 10cm, which they set me up to push.
At 12:15 am April 28th Jackson Alexander was born at 7lbs 2oz, 20 inches. Conner cut the cord and cried- I was sobbing as well. Hearing his cry was just the most amazing thing in the world! His apgars were 9 and 9 and about 25 minutes after delivery, we discovered he was a major boob baby.

At the time it didn't feel like it, but looking back it was a short and "simple" labor, which I am so thankful for!
He is our little Monkey and such an amazing little man.
