I love homemade salsa. I think this recipe will be more of a favorite among older children because it can be a little bit spicy. Younger children might like the chips with shredded cheese on them.

4 Roma tomatoes
1 or 2 jalapeños - depending how spicy you want it
1/2 of an med size onion
2 or 3 cloves of fresh garlic
a handful of fresh cilantro - chopped small
juice from 1 lime
1 tsp cumin (optional)
salt and pepper for taste

For chunky salsa: chop tomatoes, jalapeños, onion and garlic to the size of chunks you prefer. Add in the cilantro, lime juice cumin and salt and pepper.
If you don't like your salsa to be chunky add a 8oz can of tomato sauce in the blender and put in the other ingredients and blend to you liking.

Chips:
8 to 10 corn tortillas
enough corn oil to cover the bottom of a skillet add more as needed

Heat the oil in a large skillet. While oil is heating cut tortillas into 4ths. Make sure the oil is really hot by testing it with a tooth pick - if the tooth pick sizzles then the oil is ready. Add in a few cut tortillas turn over in about 1 to 2 minutes. 1 or 2 minutes more take out of oil and let drain on a few paper towels.
Add shredded cheese and salsa to the chips and enjoy!
