My LO just started teething. How long before we'll see a tooth?

It's hard to tell, sometimes it just a couple of weeks, sometimes it's months. What are your LO's symptoms so far?

It can be a long time. DD first started showing signs around 3-4 months old and her first tooth didn't appear until she was 7 months old.

To answer your question: My LO is showing all the typical symptoms- drooling like a fountain, constantly chewing on his hand and any other hard objects he can get into his mouth, fussier than usual during the day and suddenly fussy in his sleep. He goes from screaming to smiling in 2 seconds flat when we give him a frozen wash cloth to chew on.
I really hope this doesn't last for months!

Dee Dee, I've got some BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD news for you: teething doesn't just last months, it lasts YEARS. Two years in fact.

Sorry hon, you're in for a long haul now.

Henry had been sleeping through the night from abotu 10 weeks. Until the end of August when he started waking up screaming. First tooth popped through on the 5th of September and the next one is working through now.

Poor little guy! I hadn't thought about the fact that he's got like 20 teeth that are going to have to come in!

It all depends on the child, but teething takes a long time. They could show signs for months without a tooth cutting through.
