This morning when I got up I went to the restroom like usual, to my surprise I had some spotting. I wasn't freaking out yet, but like anyone it put me on edge. I have a cerclage so I just thought maybe the stitch got a lttle tugged or irritated, but I hadn't be doing anything but sleeping?
So, when the office opened I called. My doctor said he didn't think it was anything, but just to make sure that he would fit me in for an appointment later that afternoon.
He did an u/s and a cervix check (ouch! My fave). He said the baby is good and moving a lot. (Check)
My cervix is closed. (Check)
He didn't see any sign of anything like the placenta detatching or my cervix starting to open. (Check)
Then he asked what kind of activity I do. As soon as I heard those words I knew what he was thinking.
Bedrest.
I was scheduled to see a specialist next Wednesday to check the baby's heart and spine developement. So, he wants me to stay off my feet until I see the specialist has to say about my cervix.
My doctor says he doesn't see anything wrong right now. Just my cervix is irritated. But, since I'm at a critical point in my pregnancy (this is the week I went into labor with my dd) that he doesn't want to take any chances. So, we will see what this specialist says next week!
I'm glad your doctor is erring on the side of caution! Hope the bedrest doesn't last too long - but if it's best for bub, well... you gotta do it huh! ((Hugs))
I'm sorry to hear this I'm sure it's even more nervewracking given your last pregnancy I'll be sending lots of good T&Ps ... go to the book store and stock up on reading material!
That sucks to hear that you are on bedrest. I was on strict bedrest with my son for 2 weeks and then was on bedrest where I could do minimal activity until birth, so another 5 weeks. I know it sucks, bad. Glad to hear that baby was doing good and your cervix is closed. Just rest up and enjoy the extra sleep you can get while you can. KUP.
I'm sorry that you're on bed rest, but it sounds like the right thing to do and it's good that your doctor is looking out for you. I hope the week passes quickly and the specialist gives you some good news!
Thanks everyone! I'll do whatever it takes for this little girl to stay in there and grow! I'm sure I'll be spending most of the next 7 days here on JM!

Bedrest always seemed like a nightmare to me! I had to do that with DD and then I was given the goahead by my high risk dr to go out of town - I should have listened to my instincts cuz two days after going out of town I unknowingly went into active labor (5cm dilated) and gave birth to my daughter at 32w5d pg. So next time I hear "Bedrest" I'm definitely gonna stick to that request for the sake of my baby! KUP and I know/hope all goes well! Keeping you and your baby in my T&P!

Thank you Yvonne (Jaidynsmum) for another gorgeous siggy
I think you have a good DR if he suggests bedrest until you see the specialist. Better safe than sorry and I know you want the baby to be OK. Just KUP on how next week goes and in the meantime, enjoy cable!
So sorry to hear this...although its good that the baby is doing well! Keep cooking baby!!!! KUP!

Bedrest does stink, but best for your little girl. I was on it for 4wks early on so I know how tough and frustrating it can be to do NOTHING. I hope it doesn't last long. I'll be keeping you in my T&P.
