I know that we can't 100% plan what will happen when we give birth, but what sort of situation are you hoping for, if all went exactly the way you would like?

Natural birth at home
Natural birth in water at home
Normal hospital birth (includes induction drugs, epidural/pain meds)
Natural birth at hospital or birth center (no induction drugs, no epidural)
C-section
Natural birth in water at hospital or birth center
VBAC of any kind
Other (explain in post please)

My husband and I are trying to decide what we want, so I thought if I made a poll like this I could get everyone's different opinions on why they like their birth plan.

if I could have a repeat of my 1st I would be happy!! I started having contractions at around 7 or 8pm went to the hospital around 11pm, got an epi around 1am and Sydney was born at 9:59am after maybe 1/2 hr or so of pushing, it went great no complaints and I pretty much would like the same type of deal again. so normal medicated hospital birth for me please! I would like to skip an induction but I also have medicated GD so my drs won't let me pass my dd so I will be induced if he doesn't come before my dd. Hoping he decides to arrive mid to late May!

After having an induction last time that went nowhere, and ending up as a C-section after 1.5 days I'm more than happy to be able to schedule my C-section ahead of time, and avoid hours of labor.

I'm on a waiting list to get into the birth centre, otherwise I'll be aiming for a natural birth at the hospital. My hospital has jacuzzi tubs in all the rooms but I have never laboured in water so who knows if that is what I'll end up finding the most comfortable. We'll see. My hospital is also very pro low intervention birth.

I don't think epidurals are the devil or anything, I just know that I can probably do it without one. I also don't think they should be considered standard procedure. My first birth was at a highly medicalised hospital and of course I ended up with an epi. It stalled my labour and I narrowly avoided a completely unnecessary c section. I am going into this birth much, much more prepared, researched and empowered. Of course, I am also well aware that things don't always go according to plan but I strongly believe you need to be very proactive if you really want a natural birth.

Hoping for a med free birth at the hospital. I've been told they push epi's like they're candy but I REALLY don't want one so I'm hoping to be strong enough to resist.

Definitely a VBAC, preferably not an induction, and preferably without an epidural.

I'm hoping for an easier experience than with my DD, where I'm not induced, the drugs work, and the labour doesn't last as long (40 hours with DD!).

natural/normal hospital birth. I am not opposed to induction to speed things along - I have had to have pitocin 3 times out of 4 births. It is definitely not fun or ideal, but necessary in my situation.

Ideally I would like a natural home birth - but I know that will not be an option as my dr plans on inducing me no later than the 39th week. She will actually start doing twice weekly non stress tests on the baby at 32 weeks - so realisticaly the baby could need to come between 32 and 39 weeks.

Normal hospital birth for me. I'd like to avoid induction, but last time it was necessary due to pre-e. Last time I made it to 7cm before begging for the epi lol I'm really surprised I made it that long with pitocin.

Normal hospital birth for me(I love my epidurals!). Since my kids tend to be big I'm hoping they will induce me a little early. My daughter was 8lb3oz, my son was 9lb even and I was told before that if I ever got pregnant again to expect a 10lb baby. But my body BARELY was able to pass the 9lb baby so I'm hoping they will induce me early if they think Andrew will be big.

I am planning on a hospital birth with pain meds if I need them. I don't want to make any decisions until i'm there and in the thick of it. It might seem naive, but I don't want to 'plan out my birth' and be disappointed if something goes wrong or needs to change. I just know i'm happier this way.

I will be in a hospital, but I don't really care how baby girl arrives.....if we need a c-section than that is what we will do. I have scarring on my cervix and I've read that can cause dilation problems, so I've convinced myself a c-section is in my future.....but I chose other because I'm not really hoping for anything...just a safe one, if that makes sense.

I am hoping to have a natural birth in a hospital this time. With my son I was induced at 37 weeks due to his birth defect and with my daughter I was induced at 39 weeks because the doctor was worried about me making it to the hospital in the winter when I was already dialated to 5cm. I am wanting to try to avoid the epidural if at all possible. With my dd I made it to 8.5cm before I got my epi so hopefully I can go all the way. I will say that pitocin makes it harder (in my case anyways) for a natural delivery so I am definately hoping to avoid induction. We shall see.
