At our lab they make you sit in the waiting room - you cannot go anywhere, drink anything (not even water) or eat anything. with our if you leave the waiting room they make you redo the test.

With my son my OB set it up so I went to the lab, did the draw and drink, then went to my appointment (same building), then went back to the lab for the final draw. If you don't have your test and OB appointment set up on the same day then I assume you just sit and wait. I mean obviously you can take a book to read or something.

I was given the drink to take home with instructions to show up to the lab within 45 minutes of finishing. They have you wait for 15 min and do the draw at exactly one hour. I have my OB appt right after the lab appt.

Hang out in the waiting room. You can't leave or you'll have to redo it. I usually bring a book or something to do.

I actually get to drink mine at home and make sure I am in the office 1/2 after. I sit there and then after a full hour since finishing they take my blood.

I was given the drink at my last appt, They set my appt at 8:15 and told me to drink it at 7:15.. and when I arrive to let them know EXACTLY when I drank the drink, so at the right time they can call me back and take the blood.
Im lucky that I don't have to sit around for an hour in the waiting room.. THat would be torture on my dh and daughter! lol.
I have to do mine a week from Today..Fun stuff! Im suppose to know the results before I even leave the appt.

With DS I was given the stuff to take home and drink, and instructed to come in 45 minutes after drinking to have my blood drawn. I think I made my regular OB appt. for just after that since the Lab and the Dr. were in the same building. This time I am not sure how it will work since I have a new OB. Either way, I am learning to bring a book to all appointments, you never know when you are going to have to sit and wait.

I was able to leave for an hour so I sat in my car and played on my phone. I can't stand the waiting room at the dr. I feel like I'm going to catch something deadly.

With DS (same practice) I drank it at home. I don't remember when I went in, but I am guessing around 45 minutes so I'd be there at the hour mark. I am sure it depends on what your OBGYN tells you to do since sometimes they want you there the whole hour.

With my OB's office and the lab we go to, I have to do the test there and sit and wait an hour and then they draw my blood.

thanks ladies.
my dr. told me yesterday to get an early appt as possible and when i go in immedately tell them that im there for my 1 hour glucose test so that the clock can start ticking and that i wouldn't have to wait so long.
they never gave me the stuff to drink to take home, so i have to go to the lab there and they have it there. ( the lab is in the same buildong as my dr. office.)

In my country it's 2 hours I will have to wait there We are not allowed to leave, because a lot of women are sick and some of them even faint. But in some special cases women can leave (if they are feeling well and have a child with them that is not able to wait there ...).
I always take a book with baby names there - it's when I start choosing names for my kids.
