well I took my BP Today

5:30 (before I even got out of bed but was awake for about an hour just laying there) 139/97
7:00 143/96
8:00 136/90

So I called the numbers in - they are going to get with the dr (he is at his other office this am) and call me back.

Anything more than 130/80 is concerning to a doc (especially the bottom number being higher than 80). GL and hopefully they can help you out. I too have high BP with this pregnancy for some reason, I was told to use a low sodium diet and drink TONS of water to help keep it from getting too high. Kup!!!

I already do a low sodium diet - I actually cut out using salt at home years ago. until I got remarried I had not even owned a salt shaker in probably 3 years (now we have one for DH). If we go out to eat and they use salt to me the food usually taste wayyy too salty to the point it almost makes me gag. I dont drink a lot of water though - if I drink too much it actually gives me terrible side pains (like where my kidneys are) - IDK why but it has for years.

wow yeah those numbers aren't looking too good! I hope they are able to help you! Keep us posted on what the doctors said. Did they say anything about any protien in your urine? Have they had you do a 24 hour catch yet?

I'm guessing they'll get you to do a 24 hour urine... they did that for me in my first preg when my BP hit like 130 over 82... as soon as the bottom number went above 80, they started monitoring for pre-e.

Good luck, get some rest, don't push yourself around the house too much today....

Those aren't the greatest #s. Hopefully it won't get any higher than that. I have been monitoring mine as well but thankfully it's not TOO bad as of yet.

They check for protein at every visit and there is none and I have already done the 24 hour collection about a month ago - when my BP started to become an issue. Plus when I went to L&D to be monitored 2 weeks ago the did a Pre-E work up which all came back fine.

I just took it again at noon and it was 139/95 - after taking about a 2 hour nap.

I personally think it is just because something is going on with my body - even though that something is pregnancy. Normally my BP runs about 120/78. However I usually have high BP readings if I am sick, hurt (even like a stomach ache), or have a headache. I have had it go as high as 160/110 when I was hurt before - and of course my pelvic bones have been hurting when ever I try to move - lol. I have also been having terrible issues with my sinuses - and have a sinus headache. I was going to take meds but since I am supposed to keep track of my bp I havent yet because i know those meds an cause a rise in BP also.

Can it just be june?? Then sinuses will clear up, baby will be here and BP should go back to normal.

Yeah I was reading up on BP since my doctor has been concerned about me developing pre-e. I read that in pregnancy usually you're BP is lower.. so when it gets to be 140/90 they get really concerned. But I can't remember much else about what I read. I hope they are able to get it down so you can stay pregnant a little longer! Scary though.

Hope everything is ok. Do you have any side effects from your pressure being higher than normal?

Hope everything turns out okay for you!

I was on bedrest for 5 days last week because of high bp and a small tract of protein in my urine. I think my docs are overly cautious though and maybe this won't be the case for you.

Well the numbers aren't the greatest but they aren't down right horrible either.
120/80 is generally considered normal... But your numbers are still cause for worry.

Your body could just be stressed out cuz of the baby. I hope they figure out what is causing your BP to rise...

Have they called you with a plan of action yet?
