so I just went to the parmacy to pick up the prescription for BP meds (still not usre about taking them though). here is the conversation with the pharmacist:

Pharmacist: "Are you pregnant?"
Me: "Yes"
Pharmacist: "how far along are you?"
Me: "32 weeks"
pharmacist: "is your OB that ordered the prescription aware that you are pregnant?"

I said yes but I was really thinking no you idiot I forgot to tell him.

He's just covering his ***. If he doesn't he could get sued. I have worked in a pharmacy for 6 years and we have had weirder things happen where a preggo person was prescribed things they shouldn't be taking.
If you are unsure about taking them because you are preggo then I would talk to the pharmacist. He can either ease you mind about it or recommend another drug for you to talk to your dr about. After all it what they go to school for. They know more about drugs then your dr does!

I agree. (except I never worked in a pharmacy.) I think it is pretty standard for the pharmacist to confirm the prescribing doctor is aware of the pregnancy with a medication. It is a saftey precaution, and it reduces liability to the pharmacy.

Except unless the pharmacist knows the WHOLE situation they cannot say if the med is truley safe for you or not. this pharmacist said the med is safe during pregnancy (which is obviously what the dr thought too) but when I looked up the FDC info it is a Cat C drug that can cause IUGR if taken in the third trimester - since I am already dealing with IUGR I dont think this med is a good idea to take.
