I am not sure if I should buy bottles or not.. I REALLY want to b/f, and I am worried that if I know the bottles are sitting there, that it might be easy for me, on a hard day, to say "bugger it" & just use a bottle.... but on the same hand, I don't want to get to the point that me & Emersyn are both losing the plot & I have no bottles around.

I have two bottles with my breastpump, and am wondering if I should just leave it at those two, until after Emersyn is here & I can see how likely it is going to be, that I will be exclusively breastfeeding? It's not too much of an effort to pop out to the supermarket & buy some bottles, if I decide I do want to.....

Is anyone buying bottles 'just incase'?? Or is everyone just waiting to see?

I was trying to decide the same thing last week. I think having the bottles around the house would make it too easy to give up on a hard day, but I didn't want to be stuck without a bottle if I needed one. So I gave in and bought a 3 pack of bottles. The nipples are designed to be just like mommies boob so I figured it wouldn't ruin breastfeeding if I had to resort to a bottle for a feeding or two. I stashed them away in the kitchen cabinet for just "in case".

well i'm glad i'm not the only one with that predicament!!! I had so many probs b/f Gaby, that I really really really want to give it a good go this time around, but then I wonder if maybe those old problems will crop up again...

ahhhh decisions decisions.. I guess I have the two bottles that came with my breast pump, as a starting point...

I went a head and brought bottles for bub. Of course though providing all goes well in the breastfeeding department the only reason he will use one is so that SO or one of the kids can feed him or for when he goes somewhere over night..

If you have bottles that come with your breastpump I would just use those if you need them. If something works out that you have or want to formula feed or feed expressed milk you can always buy more. There is no use spending money on something you may or may not need. That's what I would do anyways. My pump doesn't have any bottles so I am planning on just buying like a 3 pack or something for just in case I need to pump and feed it to him/her.

The pump I have has a couplf of the little bottle things but I don't think there's any nipples so I'm going to buy a few. I want to be pumping right away to keep my production up since I'm going to have to pump A LOT later for DH to be feeding and grandparents to feed while I'm in class.

I am not yet, but I will buy a small supply soon, probably like 3. Just a bit of info, the Medela bottles that came with my Pump in Style did not work well at all. LEAKY! I am tempted to try again and see if they are better (2 years later) but I hate wasting money too!

I got some because I know that eventually I will want DH to give her bottles of breastmilk. I don't think having them on hand will make me more likely to quit breastfeeding.

What I don't want in the house is formula. That would tempt me to quit, I think, if things weren't going well.

The pump has a two and Target is having a sale on the storage containers that go with mine, so I bought 3 extra boxes. I will buy a few bottles because I need babes to take a bottle since she will be going to daycare.

I bought a few bottles becuz I know I'll be going back to work - only bought The First Years Breast Flow bottles (high ratings on them) so I can be able to alternate between the boobs and bottle when I'm at work. I refuse to use any other types of bottles until Rylan is older.

I think i'll keep a couple bottles on hand just so DH can feed the baby when i'm out or what not. Plus, it's good for the daddy to feed the baby...I think it helps them feel more connected...or at least show them how lucky they are that they don't have to do it every 2 hours. hahaha.

NO formula on hand, though. I'm determined this time.

I'm buying bottles so my husband can feed the baby too, especially while I'm working. He's going to be doing 50% of all the baby things - feeding, diaper changing, etc. so we have to have bottles.

I have some of my bottles from DS (we were unsuccessful with BFing) so even though I plan to try again, I do have the bottles out in a kitchen drawer already. I've got a mix of Playtex drop-ins and Born Free (both plastic and glass).

I'll confess, I did also pick up a tin of the PC Organic formula from Superstore to have on hand for just in case.... I know how determined I am, it won't make it more likely for me to "give up" but I know what things were like for me the first time around so I'm just being realistic

Also, hubby and I plan do do date nights once or twice a month that will definitely involve me drinking and possibly smoking if we go to a concert.

So the babysitter has to have bottles to feed baby while we're out all night, also if I wake up hungover and still toxic, which is likely, I can give him fresh/safe breastmilk from the freezer/fridge!

I'm a party animal. Everyone keeps saying "have you packed your bags in case you go to the hospital" and I say "yes - a case of beer and carton of cigarettes"
(JUST KIDDING BY THE WAY but I sure am looking forward to a nice cold beer on a summer's day in Spain)

ditto - probably moreso than the bottles. I did think about buying formula, but I'm going to try & have faith in myself & my ability to breastfeed.

I have no problem with expressing, once b/f is established, so that my parents, Gaby, etc can help with feeds, if need be...

I bought a bottle and breastmilk storage kit that works with my breast pump. It has a few bottles with caps for storage and also some rings & nipples for feeding.
