Do you have bumpers on your crib? I know they can cause SIDS, but what is the likely hood of that happening?
We have them on her crib now, I am not sure if we will take them off once she can start rolling over and such.

we don't have any on Sam's crib. I will get a mesh one when he starts sticking his limbs out and getting caught. I really don't know how great the risk is but it is just something I am not comfortable, personal preference I guess. we used a mesh one with Sydney and it worked well so I guess I figure better safe than sorry.

We dont have a bumper in the crib she sleeps in either...she does have one in her nursery though but doesn't sleep there lol. I dont think we will be using one though once she moves over.

No, but Josie is still sleeping in her bassinet. I'm not worried about having the bumpers taken down until she can roll over...Mesh ones sound like a good idea,

We have them. I took one end off because I've heard it helps with air circulation. I haven't put too much thought into when she starts moving around.

I just installed a mesh bumper yesterday.... Emily is a serious mover in bed, and she kept waking up with an arm or leg jammed through. I'll be honest, I wouldn't use a regular bumper - they're highly recommended against them in Canada. They're cute and pretty but not necessary and potentially dangerous.

We don't have one and probably won't get one unless she starts sticking limbs out. And then I'll buy a mesh one.

We use a regular one in Jack's crib. Harmony is still in her bassinet but when she transitions she will have one too. I am not too concerned about bumpers contributing to SIDS in our house because we have ceiling fans on at all times. Paper left in a crib moves because of the circulating air.

No. For the SIDS reason and because I really don't see the point other than decoration and it's not a typical nursery so I don't care.

No.... because of the SIDS risk.. no matter how minimal it is, to me any risk is a big risk... also, I don't really have a 'nursery' so don't see any need for the decoration aspect

I've had one in Alex's crib since i set it up and put his bedding in a few weeks ago. I know when he starts moving and rolling over, i'm going to take it out.

I am going to get a mesh one. I don't want her getting an arm or leg stuck in the bars.

Chance has a bumper in his crib HOWEVER he is now starting to move a bit more and attempting to roll over so I will be taking it out.

They also just seem like dust collectors to me. I'm pretty anti "stuff" unless it is necessary. Every now and then ds would get a limb "stuck" through the bars of his crib and it was never a big deal.

I have them on now, but as soon a she starts rolling over and moving around, I may remove them for suffocation purposes. I'm confused though about how they say certain things cause SIDS. I can see how they could cause suffocation, but how exactly do they contribution to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome which is the sudden unexplainable death of an infant not suffocation which is completely explainable and preventable. I'm still confused on that one. Are they trying to say that suffocation is SIDS???

no I didnt even buy them - I figure other then for decoration for a few months they really have no use so to me it thy are just a waste of money. Unless she gets so stuck that she cant move I wont even buy the mesh ones. I figure if her arm or leg is just sticking out and not hurting her then it is not a big deal.

Honestly I agree they contribute to suffocation and not SIDS. according to natalies dr if SIDS is going to effect your child it is going to effect them no matter what you do or dont dont do. A lot of times SIDS is the label they give infant death in order for the parents to feel better and not resposible for their childs death. for instance my uncle left their 6 week old baby on the couch to sleep and she scooted between the coushion and the back of the couch - this was clearly suffoaction and easily preventable (if he had just put her in her crib) but the police labled it SIDS.
