I know it seems rather dumb but this is the scariest thing to have happened in my life. A bit more than a week ago I noticed that Malakai (my oldest boy, 4years old) kept going cross eyed. I just figured he learnt how to do it and is just experimenting with making his eyes go different ways. Tonight I saw him doing it again, but only one eye was going in. I asked him to stop it and he said that his eye was doing it by itself. Its completely freaked me out. So now I have to take him to see an optometrist to make sure his eyes ok. And I keep thinking, what if theres something else thats wrong? I dont know how I will take it if theres something wrong with my sweet baby boy. Hes so sweet and caring and perfect. He was born 5 weeks early and had no premature complications. Please send me and him your thoughts that its just something simple, something that wont hurt him! :'(

(((HUGS))) sweetie. Maybe it's just lazy eye? My sister had that as a child. One eye just kind of did it's own thing. She had to wear a patch on her good eye to strengthen the muscles in her weaker eye. For her that was all it took to fix it. I hope it's just something simple like that.

Oh sweetie I am sending good thoughts your way. I have a friend whose little girl had the same thing happen when she was about the same age. She had to wear glasses for a year or so and it corrected itself and she didnt' have to have surgery. Keep us posted!

There's a good chance it's just lazy eye. my friend's daughter started having the same problem at 3. She would try to focus on something and her eye would go cross eyed. took her to the dr and she got some pretty strong glasses. They said there's a good chance she would need surgery, but they wanted to try the glasses first. She is 7 now and still wearing glasses, but as of last month, won't need surgery! So the glasses corrected her issue I hope its the same for your little guy.

Sending good thoughts also. I'd bet it's a lazy eye, I have one. When I was little(5) I had to wear a patch a few hours a day for it. And glasses. It never did resolve itself, but I can control it most of the time now, it only shows when I'm tired now, or zoning out. I actually don't even wear glasses now, and I see ok to drive, read, etc.
Oh and we've been watching Sofia for it too. It's more noticeable in pictures but one of her eyes turns in occasionally. We decided to see an eye doc. If it's still doing it by her next appt.

My niece had a lazy eye which fits that description. She had to wear glasses, that's all! No surgery or anything. No neurological issues. Just some weak eye muscles. I hope everything will be just fine!
Ben has had a few incidents of nystagmus, though none in the past few months. His eyes wobbled back and forth like he was watching a tennis game. It's not like that, right? I agree, it's scary when your child's eyes do something strange! I can't explain it.

I managed to get an appointment with an eye dr yesterday morning. Hes got a lazy right eye and its got poor vision as well. We have been refered to a specialist and the dr said that it may need surgery :'( The earliest appointment we could get with a specialist is the 30th of November so its just a waiting game till then. I wish I didnt have to wait. I just want to get it over and done with :'(

Nattie had eye problems like that. she had the surgery for it back in january. then right after surgery her eyes were fine - after they healed they started crossing again and then the muscles finally got strong enough that she no longer has problems with it.

I hope it doesn't come to surgery! But if it does, I'm sure everything will be fine. My now three year old daughter Lucy had eye surgery when she was 18 months old, and it went smoothly. The only rough part for her was waking up from the anesthesia - she was a supercrank. They told me to have a bottle or snack ready for her and it worked like a charm!

He would go home the smae day. Nattie had her surgery at a surgery center (not even a hospital). she was in recovery until she could eat or drink. We were there a while becasue she was super cranky and just refused anything - but maybe an hour total after the surgery. they did both of her eyes at the same time and it took maybe 30 minutes for the actual surgery. she wasnt in daycare so we didnt have to worry about tha but I remember then telling us she couldnt go to daycare for like aweek, no running jumping (she wasnt even walking yet though). she had eye drops every day for about a week and we had to make sure she didnt rub her eyes. they looked bloody for about 3 weeks, but not as bad as I thought they would. here is what she looked like when we got home that day:
