Okay, so we are going to Disney the last week of Feb/first week of March. DD will be six June 2nd. I don't want to rent a stroller for her. Everyone keeps telling me their kids were like 8 or 9 when they finally were able to walk around Disney. I waiting till she was 5 or 6 to book this trip so we wouldn't have to deal with a stroller for her and now everyone is telling me she will have to have one. I took her to the zoo last summer and a few weeks ago and she walked the entire time with no problem at all. Up hills, down hills. No complaints. I know Disney is HUGE, but what does everyone else think??

I've never been to Disney but I wouldn't bring a stroller for my 4 year old. I'm maybe more hardcore than some moms? I took him on a 3 mile hike up and down a mountain the other day and it was no big deal (and he slept so well that night!). Kids have tons of energy.

Thank you! I just don't think an almost six year old needs a stroller. It's not like I'm going to force her to run the whole day with no rest! She was all over the place at the zoo, she had a ball. Tons of energy!

at 6 I don't think I would take a stroller....I have never been to Disney so I have no idea LOL. Currently we have a sit and stand stroller we use but Sydney is only 3 1/2 and really she barely ever uses it, most of the time she walks but it is there as an option. If you are taking a stroller for Luke maybe look into a sit and stand? then at least she could hop on the back if she needs to.

I can see a stroller for a 3 1/2 year old.
Okay...here's where the majority of you will think I'm a terrible mom. We have decided not to take Luke to Disney. He won't even be two yet, won't remember it. We were going to wait a few years and take them both for the first time, but Hayden is at the princess, magical stage that we wanted her to experience Disney now. We will go back when Luke is around 5 and he can experience it.
For what it's worth we talked about it for a long time, but we decided we didn't want to have to deal with strollers and diapers at Disney. Luke won't know, he won't feel left out and he will get to spend the time with his grandparents, which he ADORES!
Okay, let the bashing begin LOL

Erin I don't blame you at all! don't feel bad about not taking him, you're right he won't remember it and Hayden will love the one on one time with her mama and daddy! kids need that. So in that case no stroller, she can walk and if she gets tired just stop and rest!

100% ditto Kim. It's going to be such a sweet, special memory for her (you know, besides the trauma of being forced to walk everywhere ).

Haha!
Thanks gals! One of my best friends is mortified that I am not taking Luke. If he was five and knew where we were going and leaving him out, that would be cruel. He won't have a clue.
I think Hayden will be thrilled with the whole trip. We haven't told her yet, we are surprising her Christmas morning. I can't wait to tell her! We booked a breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table (which is in the Castle at Disney), so I am buying her a Cinderella dress for her to wear to the breakfast. I'm wrapping that up with an invitation from "Cinderella" to join her for breakfast. Also making her a Disney character autograph book to give to her Christmas morning. Can't wait!

I wouldn't bring one, but if she does get tired you could always rent one. Disney is huge, and when I went I saw lots of kids in strollers.

I am with everyone else. I wouldn't bring one. I remember going to Disney as a little kid. Yes, it's huge but there is also plenty of standing around waiting and lots of places to sit. You can go at her pace, and if she needs to rest take a snack break.
I also agree - Luke won't know. He likely wouldn't really get anything from it at this point and won't know what he's missing. He will get a much bigger kick out of it when he is a little older. From his perspective, what fun would it be to get dragged around all day, confined in a stroller because there are so many people around, not able to see much of anything other than people's backsides. He will have much more fun with grandma and grandpa, and what a great time for you and DH to be able to spend with Hayden!

I wouldn't bring a stroller either and going at her pace is a great idea and something I would do. You should feel bad about just taking Hayden. Luke won't know the difference and each will benefit from their own personal time whether it's with mom and dad or the grandparents. Hope you have lots of fun.

I'm sure she'll be fine, especially if she has no problems walking around the zoos. And you won't be walking non-stop all day. She'll have lots of chances to rest.
I think it's wonderful that you're taking her. It's the perfect age. Everything is so magical for them right now. DD is also at that princess stage (has been for a couple of years now, actually) and DH and I are considering taking our kids during March Break.

We did Disney with a baby (Elias), 1 yr old and 2 yr old... and one Ergo and a stroller between the bunch of them. The stroller mainly carried the diaper bags, LOL. Both older children walked the majority of the time. Elias rode in the carrier (he wasn't walking yet). Rebecca fell asleep mid-day in the stroller (which is why it was along), and my niece fell asleep about 2 hours after that, again in the stroller. We didn't use the stroller aside from that.
I agree with everyone else-- if she gets tired, you can always take a break, or rent a stroller... but personally I doubt she would need a stroller. We went to Disney World when I was 9 and my sister was 7, and if anyone needed a stroller it was our parents, not us, LOL. They were EXHAUSTED by the time we were leaving!

I was 6 the first time I went to Disney and I definitely didn't need a stroller. I'm sure you're daughter will have more energy left at the end of the day then you guys lol.
I also agree not taking Luke is a good idea, he wont remember and it will be a special time just for you guys and your daughter that she will treasure forever

We're going in 2 weeks and I have no plans to bring a stroller for my not-quite 3 year old. Or for Christian either, for that matter. I will wear him when he gets tired and she can walk. I've taken her to the zoo and Sea World and she just goes and goes and goes.

My three year olds walk everywhere. They just turned three in August too. I just don't need a stroller anymore unless I think they need to take a nap while I'm pushing them around. If I were in your shoes I wouldn't get a stroller, unless your daughter still takes naps...? I hear the strollers available at Disneyland are really good, so if you do end up needing one, you can decide last-minute!

We went to Six Flags last week and was there for 8 hours and my 4 year old walked the whole time and it is hilly there.I would just have her walk and if she got tired then I would just start to take frequent breaks.
