As long as your butt cheeks aren't visible, it's fine. You'll give people something to talk about. But be sure to wear panties!

We've been running around all morning getting ready for my in-laws. They're coming tonight. They stay at a hotel, so we don't have to clean the whole house, but it was my MIL's birthday this week, so we're doing something special for her. Hopefully the cake James helped me bake turns out ok. The last one he "helped" me with had to be thrown out.

This weekend, we're participating in the street-wide garage sale and then just spending time with the in-laws. Brian bought a new bbq yesterday, so he and his dad will spend most of the day tomorrow putting that together, probably.

Don't worry Jennifer, I'll be sure to wear panties. I rarely forget! Turns out the dress is better than I originally thought, I probably won't cause a scandal

The zoo sounds daunting but you do what you have to do. It's all about makin' memories for the kids.

Hope the cake turns out alright, Jennifer!

We have the wedding tomorrow and then probably recovery on Sunday. We have a bunch of friends in town for the big event, so maybe we'll see them Sunday if anyone feels up to it. I'm really looking forward to this wedding, it should be a lot of fun.

Ah man, MCA from the Beastie Boys died? This is going to really bum out our groom tomorrow. I predict a lot of Beastie boys songs/dancing/singing along tomorrow night.

We are having our first garage sale. I quickly learned I am not a garage sale person. I over price and I am not super chatty first thing in the morning. Dh took over.

What is going on with Ella. I just saw Kelly's pic on Facebook. I hope she is ok. :-(

Have fun at the wedding today michelle!

It's a sunshiny Monday here, how about where you are? Did you have a lovely weekend?
I'm trying to play some catch up on this thread...but I'm so many pages behind I doubt I will, but yes, it is my due month! Woo!!!

I'm feeling like quite a fatty too.

Here's my annoyance for today: A super feminist, single mom (irrelevant?) friend of mine has been been pushing her boy since birth to, let's say, be in touch with his feminine side. She'll tell anyone who will listen that his favourite colour is pink. Fine, whatever, I don't care. Now, for his fifth birthday she will tell anyone who will listen that he wants to have a princess party. Fine, whatever. [Aside: when our boys were babies she's go on and on about how happy she is to have a son so that she wouldn't have to do awful anti feminist things like have princess parties. She specifically was bashing them, But it's fine for boys now? Fine, whatever]. Anyhow, the boy's "princess party" is really just going to be a trip to the movies, but dressed up in princess garb. I accepted the invite on O's behalf to see the movie, it's his buddy, no big deal but now the mom is bugging me about having O come in princess gear?? He will not be down with it. She might be joking with me but either way I'm annoyed because I really feel like she's forcing this princess thing and making a big deal of what a gender bending, super cool feminist kid she has. Yeah, we get it. I'm trying to just not make a big deal of it but it feels like she can't do the same. Ugh. The end.

Is everybody's Monday looking up???
This would be a problem in our house. Rock won't go to birthday parties if they are "princess parties" so even if he was friends with this kid he wouldn't go lol.

It's one thing to push princesses on your own son (which I totally don't agree with!), but to ask his friends to dress up as princesses too is ridiculous. That poor boy.
Totally agree that asking your friends to agree with your unconventional route is not normal...

We are going to see Aerosmith in Tacoma (about 2 hours away), so driving up to Seattle for the day, then to the concert and home. Not staying the night, but should still be fun. DH has never been to a concert, so it should be interesting for sure.

We are about 30% hit and 70% miss on the potty at our house. We do have Noelle in underpants a lot when we are at home, and she will sit, but I think she's learning to hold it more than anything. She does ask on average of 2 times per day at day care, and gets it about 2-3 times a week so it's a start. We're not doing anything hardcore about it though. Perhaps in the summer when I am home with her an extra day per week.
Yeah I totally read her date night thing and thought...uh, jealous, I wish we could schedule one...and no it isn't the kids stopping us!

And now I'm jealous of you and the potty training, Amber I haven't even started on cuz I just gotta get LJ done too and I'm never home enough to do it, and dh isn't dedicated enough.

I will be sure to have a script for xanax and a LARGE bottle of something stronger than milk on hand for the duration of the summer.

Yay to successful trips to the pool. That is totally on the list of things I need to do with the kids this summer while I am off on Friday - get out and got to the pool/park/anywhere. The weather was soooooo mild her last summer that we spent most of it inside in pants and long sleeve shirts because it was raining.

Amanda, have you thought about trying to switch him over to a soft spout sippy? or just a baba of water at night?? That's what we did with Noelle, slowly made the switch from milk to water. And then when it was just water I totally let it be or awhile. Just recently I noticed that she wasn't really drinking it, so I switched her baba out for a soft spout (i.e. the ones meant for 6month olds) sippy cup that she only gets at bedtime. We still call it a baba, she gets it at bedtime and generally takes a drink or two of it and then tosses it. She doesn't get anything at naptime at day care, so I knew she could do it, it was just a matter of getting that same mentality from day care to transfer over to home. And really, if it's water does it really matter all that much that he has a bottle at night? I'm sure some dentist would disagree, but I just honestly don't see how it's different than drinking water through the night which we all do.
Oh my gosh, are we really talking about 2016? I can't even think about like July atm!

Happy Sunday! Looks like it's going to be another nice day here. Hurray!

We had a lot of fun at the wedding last night. The meal portion was a little stressful with the 2 kids running around but after dinner we actually managed to get them to fall asleep up in a corner and we got to dance the night away. Oscar woke around 2am and came down and danced with us and I don't know if i've ever seen him more deliriously happy I feel so lucky and so happy to have had 2 nights out of old time fun with my old pals in the last few weeks. I feel rejuvenated (and exhausted and maybe a little bit hungover)!

Jennifer, I would be terrible at garage sales too! I think I would end up giving everything away Did you guys make any money?

Kim, how was the carnival?????

Oh and my dress turned out to be just short enough, though a few "super moon" jokes were made when I had to bend down to tend to kids...

Happy Sunday! dreary day again here, where is the %^$# sun!!!!!!

Carnival was fun, Sydney loves rides, loves them, the more they spin the happier she is haha. Sam is still a bit iffy with the rides, he isn't sure if they are fun or terrifying LOL...we won 2 new fish for our goldfish pond, that was exciting! ok not really but Syd loves dumping them in our little backyard pond and watching them grow, she got 2 last year too and they are huge now, we will see how the new little guys do in their new oasis

No plans today, I was going to mulch the flower beds but it is cloudy and chilly and I am not sure I feel like it, we shall see if I get some motivation.

YAY for fun weddings! sounds like Oscar got some awesome memories from that one, sounds like a perfect night!

Yay for fun weddings. Hopefully you're just a little hung over.

It's beautiful here today. We went downtown to do some touristy stuff. Walked around the grounds of Parliament Hill and then had lunch at the restaurant where DH and I had our first date. The kids were super considering there was a lot of walking to look at buildings and flowers (kind of boring for them) and the service at lunch was sloooooooooooooooooooooow. Now James is napping and Leah is happily watching cartoons.

DH made almost $100 at the garage sale and we got rid of a lot of the big bulky baby stuff we'd been hanging on to (swing, high chair, double stroller, etc.) He repriced everything to $10 or under so didn't have too much trouble getting rid of stuff.

Leah loves the rides at carnivals too. DH has to go with her, because I can't handle anything that spins. The bungee jump Sydney was doing looks crazy! Congrats on the new pets.

Oh Kelly, I've been thinking of Ella all weekend. Let us know what the doctor says...

It is beautiful outside today, but James is sick (shocking!) so we probably won't get to enjoy too much of it. I may bundle him up and take him for a walk later so that I can enjoy the weather a bit.

Kim, you deserve a happy week. Yay for Dutch Wonderland.

Michelle, when is your next wedding?
