This is a technique challenge. It's been done before by Natalie in a speed scrap, but not since I was a newbie to the board [so it's been awhile] and we've got a lot of new people since then so I thought it'd be fun to do. In my screen shots, my "layer one" is a blank layer I forgot to delete. Please ignore that layer.

we'll be doing this:



1. pick your picture and your word

2. pick a font that is pretty blocky and in all caps

3. write the word out on your pic and move it till it looks right.

you should look like this:


4. with your picture layer selected, use your marquee tool to highlight the area around the word, taking care to make sure that the marquee is right on the edge of the bottom of the word. If you don't get right up on the word, it'll leave a space and won't flow as well.



5. copy that section of your picture and then delete it from the original picture.



6. paste your copied selection of the picture [so you should have 3 layers. one with the word, one with the section of your pic and the main pic] and make sure it's flowing properly with the main pic




7. highlight the word so that everything but the word is selected [so the inverse of the word]



8. delete this selection from the part of the picture that you copy/pasted



9. delete your text layer and scrap your picture!

Is there another option for those of us who don't use this program?

you should be able to do it in your program. it's not something that's specific to photoshop

OK I think I know of a different way to do it in my program that should produce the same result.

if you can't figure it out let me know and we'll think of something else you can do

OK I did it! I basically just used the font like a template layer, and then cropped the photo just above where the font was, and them merged the 2 together. Let me know if it looks like the real thing and I'll go scrap it.



ETA: Oh crap I can see a little space between the words and the photo. I'll move it up and then merge.

I fiddleled around and then called April then looked on the CM web site and looked it up. It was super easy!!! Loved it! Got the extra point for the button w/ the 4 hole and the something leafy. Hope you like Used my Creatuve Memories Cottage garden kit.

I added the picture into Arianna's version of my speed scrap page (I did the original speed scrap page with Serenity's pictures, then made some rearrangements and recreated it for Arianna - hope that is ok for entering this challenge!)

Jill did flip everything on the page? Technically you can't double a page for the challenges. Can you rearrange it a tiny bit more so it's obviously a different page? It still looks really similar

OK...help! After I use the marquee tool, it says copy that selection and then delete. I can't figure out how to only copy that section, it copies the whole picture.
