Do you mind travelling around holiday time (like Christmas)? Or do you try to avoid it?
I quite like it there is something kind of exciting & atmospheric about travelling when there are large numbers of people travelling with you (well, travelling at the same time)... That said, I hate the traffic, if you leave to close to a holiday...
When we traveled over the holidays, it was from IN to NC to see my family last year with a five week old baby in tow. A 12 hour car trip with a newborn is not something I would recommend by the way. I told DH when we moved to NC that we would not be making holiday treks back north. We will go on short trips to see family members and if any of his family (who all live in the north) want to see us, they can come here since none of them have small children in their care.
My family is a rather large, extended one so we will have 20 + people together for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but Katie won't have to sleep in a strange place since all of the houses are within an hours drive of one another.

I hate hate hate it. I think I'll enjoy it more later when the girls are older, but right now it's a terrible pain in the neck... I dislike the IL's and my family's stuff is very low key, that it doesn't seem worth it to me, BUT I think it's important for the girls to have strong relationships with both sides of the family, so we keep packing up and heading home.

I loooove me some traveling, but I don't really prefer it around holidays.
I think holidays (for me, anywho) are sorta stressful to begin with... that I don't like to add to it by changing up everyones routine, and the traffic, lack of time, etc. I prefer to stay home and chill!

.. and our daughter, Alexis..
We don't travel around the holidays. Both DH & I have agreed that since we never had to leave our houses on Christmas when we were kids, we're not making our daughter do it either. So, folks have to come to us if they want to see us!
