I'm on the pill. Nothing fancy-- in fact it's a generic brand so it's cheaper. DH will be getting the big V soon.

Dh is due to have the big V, but his scheduling has prevented it from happening so we are using condoms, and I have considered have an IUD inserted.

Not much to tell. We use the Billings Ovulation Method - a form of Natural Family Planning. We chose it mostly because it has no side effects or long term health risks and the user-effectiveness rate is 99.6% with proper training. We've also had training in other forms of NFP, specifically the Creighton Model and the Serena Method - but the Billings Method suited my irregular cycles best so that's what we're sticking with.

Hubby had a vasectomy a couple of years ago and I stay on the pill form of birth control to a) have a 2nd prevention method and B) to only have 2 cycles per year. I WAS on Seasonale to only have 4 cycles per year, but when we switched insurances it was WAY too expensive just for that and as a secondary method, so I switched to a generic brand (same active ingredients as Seasonale) and just skip the placebo pills minus 2 months out of the year.

What is IVD?

Do your husbands make a big deal about getting fixed?

My DH talked to other guys and they cried like babies...so my husband didn't want to get it done...I think its bc of the needle being down there!!! They told him how swollen they were.

So thats why I got done

It's IUD.

And no, my husband WANTED to get it done as we were both very adament about no more kids. And it can't be all THAT awful as there was an 8 month waiting list where we were! He wasn't swollen hardly at all and not for very long either. They numbed the skin before using the needle (like when you get a cavity filled) so he never even felt the needle....in fact he didn't feel anything at all (and yes I was there the entire time and watched).

My husband had a vasectomy about 6 years ago... I watched too!
One of the KEYS to the whole swollen thing: LET HIM DO NOTHING FOR THE FIRST FEW DAYS... maybe up to a week... Baby him... if he is willing to do it and save YOU a LOT more discomfort. The stories my Hubby heard about the swelling were from guys who felt "just fine" so they continued everyday life as usual and ended up with a couple of "soft balls" in their middle! NOT GOOD!!!

I think it just depends on the person, some are prone to swelling, some aren't, as my hubby was one of the ones who was up and around doing normal everyday life within 24 hours and had no problems at all. I had a breast reduction and was also up and around within 3-4 days back to lifting things, etc (a lot of people don't do much of anything for 3 weeks or so) and I had extremely minimal swelling. Sometimes it's the person, sometimes it's the doctor, and sometimes it's just plain luck LoL.

I guess I would be considered a lurker. HELLO ,I'm not on pills or anything. We are using condoms until hubby gets snipped. I can't take pills or anything with estrogen in it because I have a disorder that makes me more susceptible(sp???brain fart) to blood clots. As a matter of fact I currently have one in my left leg caused by my pregnancy and it's one of the reasons I'm not having anymore children. Here's a word of warning also.. my nurse said one of the biggest killers in pregnant women is blood clots. To leave on a happy note ...I love my two children and my family is totally complete.

We use condoms with spermicide. Hubby will most likely get the big V done soon. Now that I'm finally ok with it, I think he is starting to get scared of the whole thing. I cannot take anything with hormones because they turn me into a major crab. It was so bad, it almost ruined my marriage before I realized what the problem was.
