Hello everyone!
My name is Juni, and I've been a member of the JM boards for a few years.
Here's a brief recap of my story to start out.

Me: Juni - Age 29
Hubby : Mike - Age 32

October 2008 - Married
November 2008 - BFP after 1 cycle of TTC - we were ecstatic and thought it would be harder to get pg.
January 2009 - Missed Abortion @ 9 weeks - had a D&C - shortly after I fell into a depression afterward, but eventually made it out.

March 2009 - Decided we were ready to TTC again.

BFN's EVERY MONTH!

September 2009 - started having VERY irregular cycles. some 70 days some 22 days. - still TTC'd -- had been BBT'ing every cycle, but my temps were all over the place, unlike during my first cycle that we got the BFP on.

January 2010 - Went back to my Gyno - possible PCOS -- but all bloodwork came back negative.

February 2010 - Went back to Gyno again (a different doc for a 2nd opinion), told him how long we had been trying and he decided I should just go straight to see a Fertility Specialist. - That day, i made the appointment with RMA of NJ.
Got an ultrasound on Day 1 - I definitely have PCOS. So it turns out I haven't been ovulating (most likely) and all that trying was for naught.
It was suggested we start the process of getting to do an IUI to get pregnant.

Got insulin levels checked and showed i have a slight resistance -

Started taking Metformin -- 500mg for 1 week, then 1000 for 1 week, then 1500mg a day from then on. Side effects were NOT FUN, but eventually my body got used to it.

Lost abt 9 lbs.

Still taking the Metformin.

April 18, 2010 (CD 3) - Went in for CD3 bloodwork and Ultrasound. Everything is good for us to go ahead and start this cycle for an IUI. Started taking 50mg of Clomid at night (with the 1500mg Metformin). Will take the Clomid for 5 days (CD3 - CD7)

April 25, 2010 (CD 10) - Start OPK's in the evenings and wait for surge. Once I have a surge, I will go into the RMA office the next morning and bring my Ovidrel Shots with me. There I will get an ultrasound to confirm the surge, and take the shots and start the IUI process... (i think?) -- still learning.

April 30, 2010 (CD 15)- If i don't see a surge the evening before, I go into RMA office anyway, to get an ultrasound -- bring Ovidrel shots with me...

Was told that sometimes the OPK's don't work for PCOS patients. Was also told that PCOS could be the reason why my 1st pregnancy didn't last...but that's just an assumption. Also was told that there is a higher risk of Miscarriage in patients with PCOS. So that makes me very worried about the next BFP.

I'm still learning about everything, and it seems everytime I talk to the medical advisors I don't figure out my questions to ask them until I hang up the phone with them. I am making a list -- and am thankful that they are so patient.

This process if very reassuring to me, since the docs seem to be ontop of everything. It seems as though every day, hour, minute and second counts when trying to succeed here.


Side Effects
Metformin 1500mg - STILL having stomach issues, I KNOW that reducing carbs and sugars will significantly reduce the symptoms I am having. I tried the Zone Diet for a few weeks but was unable to maintain it -- I am working on it.

Clomid 50mg - Just took it last night, and don't have any noticeable side effects yet. I hear some crazy stories about the s/e's... i wonder...

Hello again -- Thought I'd update ...

On CD3, I started Clomid (100mg / night) -- Finished that up on CD 7 ...
On CD 8, I started getting hot flushes -- nothing severe so far, and more tolerable than I had anticipated. I've also had slight cramping and slight headaches... surprisingly NO moodiness... Hubby is happy about that. I was also prepared for Side Effects, since what I've read is pretty crazy... We are lucky so far.

Yesterday was CD10 - so last night I took my first OPK. I got the CBE Digital ones b/c I don't want to misread the 'shades' of the lines -- It was negative last night, and today CD11, still negative.

I will prob update next when I get the positive OPK -- at which point, the morning after, I will go into my RE and get a transvaginal ultrasound to confirm that I am ovulating... take my Ovidrel shots and then start the IUI sha-bang

I have been having soo much anxiety -- I can't believe we are finally at this stage... this could be it, or may not be.... Trying not to get my hopes up, b/c even if we do get PG this cycle, we may have trouble making it stick...
